It was very difficult for farmers to secure insurance. Even when it was available it was usually too expensive because insurance companies considered farm risk too hazardous. Consequently, farmers began insuring themselves and each other according to special laws providing for MUTUAL protection. Thus the Farm Mutual Companies were founded.
Prevent any further damage from occurring by taking precautions and stopping the problem at the source. Write a detailed statement of the circumstances surrounding the claim, including making a note of items that were damaged/ stolen, etc. Co-operate with local authorities, insurance adjusters, and contractors assigned to the claim.

I was with Bay of Quinte for a few years shy of 20 years with my house and farm insurance. Great company until something happens. Never made one clam in all the years I was with BOQ, then had a house fire. NO Fault of mine. Fire report witch in detail stated the cause of fire. Would not recommend this company at all. The only good or nice anything about BOQ is the lady at the front desk in the Trenton Ont.Office. Wonderful person. I have never been spoken to or treated so poorly from a few I will say ladies in the Picton office. Very upsetting and unsettling experience. I would talk to other brokers

Our family farm has been insured with Bay of Quinte for 60+ yrs. We had our barn damaged in the latest wind storm. George Taylor contacted us within minutes of filing the claim and the repair company he recommended was on site within the hour. We couldnt be happier with the service from both BQM and their barn repair specialist (Paul Linkie).

We were the victims of a total loss fire that started in the early morning. By the time the office opened insurance broker was on the phone with Bay of Quinte. It was a Friday the adjuster was on scene that day with an advance for us. We were in a surreal position and Bay of Quinte was there for us. They sent excellent people to recover what… they could, Malcolm Brothers, and notwithstanding the devastating situation we were in, they did everything possible to make it livable for us.
