The imprint of the trauma is in the limbic system and in the brainstem: in our animal brains, not our thinking brains. It is the responsibility of a good therapist to be skilled in a variety of therapeutic models and interventions and to work with each individual client to determine what approaches will work best for that person. Laurie tailors her approach to each client's unique needs by incorporating elements of any or all of these techniques and therapeutic models.

Noticing - this is an awareness of sensation, thought, emotion, movement, and external stimuli. Detachment - noticing without "participating" in it or getting swept away by thought, feelings, or the body.
