Created in 1945, The Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy (CFP) is Canada's National Pharmacy Charity. Over the last 75 years, the organization has helped countless individuals and organizations while achieving its mandate to advance the profession of pharmacy. Through our Innovation Fund, CFP has granted more than $2 million for more than 24 projects that seek to advance the profession.
In 1944, A.W. "Whit" Matthews (Director, University of Alberta School of Pharmacy) and John Kennedy (President, United Drug Company) recognized the need to support pharmaceutical education and research in Canada. The vision of these two pharmacy leaders culminated in the formation of the Canadian Foundation for the Advancement of Pharmacy in 1945.
A $25,000 grant from the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy's Innovation Fund will see the development and study of a program to help community pharmacists identify and support patients using medical cannabis, as part of routine care.

The Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy is pleased to honour pharmacy leaders from across the country through its Wellspring Pharmacy Leadership Awards. CFP has awarded grants to 33 pharmacists since the program was established in 2012, for a wide range of initiatives that foster personal development and leadership through study, experiential learning or mentorship.
