Keep a healthy skepticism about the lowest bid. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Many fly-by-night contractors' below-cost bids seem attractive, but these contractors often are uninsured and perform substandard work. Remember, price is only one of the criteria for selecting a roofing contractor.
When deciding on a product for the roof of your home you must first look at the pitch of your roof. Roofs with a pitch of 3/12 (that's 3 inches of rise per 12 inches of run) or less are considered "low slope" or "flat" roofs. Since the pitch of your roof will limit your product choices it is the first thing to consider.
In contrast to a steep slope roof (4/12 pitch or higher), a flat roof is horizontal or nearly horizontal. Materials that cover these roofs are specifically designed to shed water from a very slight inclination or totally flat surface. Asphalt shingles are not appropriate for low slope roofs. Although some contractors install them, they are not designed for low slopes and most manufacturers will not provide a warranty for such an application.

Let's start this off by saying, I'm not a handy man and you will very rarely find me pretending to be one. The house my family rents has had a slow leak in the ceiling for some time. Our roof can accumulate moss quickly so we assumed there was an issue with the roof. I called Repp (knowing they did the roof 8+ years ago) and Pat was very quick to respond and show up at our house. Pat got up in to the attic, discovered a few things (non roof related) and suggested ways to resolve the drip at minimal cost. Pat explained what needed to be done and I'll be off to Home Depot once I'm done with this
