Services
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Tamara joined the Cold Lake Veterinary Clinic team in September of 2011. She was born and raised on a mixed farm on the outskirts of the Great Sandhills near the farming community of Leader Saskatchewan. After graduation she moved to Saskatoon, where she received her Animal Health Technology Diploma from SIAST-Kelsey Campus in 1994.
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time. In general, surgical appoinments are checked in between 8:30am and 9:00am and the surgical procedures are performed in the mornings.
Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help. It also explains the decisions you will need to make before your pet's upcoming surgery. Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past.
Here at the Cold Lake Veterinary Clinic, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem. We also adjust the amount and type of anesthetic used depending on the health of your pet. Preanesthetic blood testing is important in reducing the risk of anesthesia.

We offer herd testing for pregnancy and semen evaluation in cattle, bison and elk. We are also happy to help set up a vaccination protocol for breeding and feeder animals to prevent pneumonia and abortion. Large animal services are provided on farm during regular hours and after hours if needed. Large animals must be confined to an appropriate chute for examinations and surgery.

Recently I had to take in my friend and family member my 17 year old cat named Gandolf. It was after hours on a Saturday and Dr. Dunivan was understanding compassionate caring as I had to put my old friend down. As heartbreaking it was Dr. Dunivan gave me my time to say goodbye. I recommend any and all care for your pets here. Thank you Dr.Dunivan for making a really difficult time more bearable.

Charged me more than I was expecting to pay for a 20 minute exam of my dog for a skin rash, they didn't even clean his rash or trim the hair around it. I also had to swab my own dogs ear for them and they still charged me for the ear swab. They charged me for everything they possibly could and didn't provide the quality service for his rash, just left the vet with a dog cone and big hole in my pocket. Overpriced and poor quality of care.

Very nice and friendly team. Because of covid, you have to wait in your car outside and leave your pet alone inside with them. Our cat has a bit of a wild tamper and she is easily gets scared and we were afraid she was going to try and escape, or fight them without us. But surprisingly, when they brought us back our wild little princess, she was fine. She wasn't even upset at us, or grumpy. She was cuddly and loving. So, really, great work to the team working there.

We have had such great care for our pets from Cold Lake Veterinary Clinic. Our cat needed surgery and they were so good in helping her and putting our minds at ease.
We recently had to put our pet rabbit down and they were so loving and gave us lots of time with him before and after to say our good-byes.

Editing my original review because our experience wasn't the greatest. There was more concern about putting our pet on anxiety meds than there was using alternative methods to treat him, regardless of us being clear that we would do the work. We declined the meds as a first option after getting into a heated debate. This visit, they rated our kitten a level 4. A couple of months later, for a checkup, he was rated a level 1 for anxiety. All without meds!! He's doing well and socializes with others. So glad we stood our ground. I'm not against meds IF they need it, but glad to say some Feliway spray
