Fort Langley Learning Centre often has inquiries from families seeking clarification on the difference between a full-day learning center and half-day preschool programs. So we thought we would take this opportunity to explain the difference. Sadly, historically, full day learning programs (daycares) have often been viewed as babysitting, while preschool programs were viewed as providing kindergarten readiness.
Our programs offer activities that are open ended. Children are free to meet and respond to activities in a self-determined way. We provide a balance of individual and group activities. We have a well equipped play area with a variety of toys and activities to promote learning. We emphasize social responsibility in all our programs.
We believe a strong sense of social responsibility paves the way for a successful future for your child. At Fort Langley Learning Centre, children are given opportunities to develop socially through an environment that is supportive and encouraging. We help this develop through activities that encourage problem solving, discussion and teamwork.
At Fort Langley Learning Centre, a child's growth and development is important to us. We take pride in serving healthy, well balanced morning and afternoon snacks each day. We ensure our snacks encompass the suggestions listed in the Canada Food Guide to help provide children with everything they need to succeed!
Children's growth and developmental milestones are linked to certain ages but each child will reach a milestone at his/her own pace. Our Early Childhood Educators apply the knowledge that the stages of physical, social, emotional, creative, and cognitive development of each child are different.

We use several tools to assist in our screening process including: Nipissing Developmental Screen, Ages & Stages Questionnaires and Kindergarten Readiness Checklist prior to school entry.By using the screening tool, our Early Childhood Professionals are able to identify areas of need in the classrooms and adapt the curriculum, methods of interaction, and physical environment to meet your child's needs.
