We look forward to hearing from you! Contact lenses are a great way to take a break from wearing glasses. All contact lens wearers should have their contact lenses professionally fit and regularly examined to ensure the contact lenses they are wearing are meeting the health and vision demands of their eyes.

Dr. Elash was born and raised in Saskatoon. After completing her three-year Bachelor of Science degree in anatomy and cell biology at the University of Saskatchewan she moved to Waterloo, ON for optometry school. She graduated from the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Waterloo in 2014.
A comprehensive eye exam is used to check vision and eye health. We check to see how your eyes are doing and if there have been any changes since your last visit. Specifically we check to see if you need glasses/need to update your current pair, if your eyes are working together and are aligned, and if there are any health concerns that need to be addressed.
Healthy eating and exercise is important for overall health; however, don't be surprised if the next time you visit your optometrist you are sent away with a prescription to eat your fruits and vegetables. Healthy eating along with exercise and protection from the sun are some of the most effective ways to maintain eye health as you age.
Contrary to popular belief an eye exam is so much more than checking to see if you need glasses or if you need to update your current pair of glasses. Some medications (including common ones!) can have side effects on your eyes. These medications can cause your eyes to become irritated, reduce your ability to see clearly, or even permanently affect your vision.
While everyone has differing needs for how often they should visit their doctor of optometry, generally speaking those under 18 and those 65 and older should have an eye exam once every year. Those between the age of 18 and 65 should have an eye exam once every two years. This is true even if you have no vision concerns and/or do not wear glasses.
