Cassandra has been the owner and Director of RMPS since 2013. She brings more than 20 years of experience in working with children and families to the practice. Her background and expertise in the areas of assessment and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD as well as her knowledge of neurofeedback therapy and play therapy give her the broad base of knowledge to direct this multi-faceted private psychology practice.
At RMPS our approach to therapy is grounded in the latest research about the brain and nervous system. We firmly believe the first step to better functioning is helping individuals regulate their minds, body, and emotions. As children often cannot express themselves through words, it is up to the child psychologist to apply specialized skills to understand their experience, feelings, and perspective.
Play therapy is a therapeutic approach based on developmental principles. It is a process where the child chooses objects, symbols, or types of play to express their concerns and work through particular problems. In play therapy, toys are like the child's words and play is the child's language. A child's play is not simply a reproduction of what they have experienced, but a creative reworking of the impressions they have acquired.
At RMPS we offer a wide variety of psychological assessments such as learning assessments, attention and emotional assessments, behavioural assessments and developmental assessments.

Regardless of the type of assessment, the goal is always to better understand the individual, and then use that information to develop a plan for improved functioning Assessments are a formal way of measuring how well a person is functioning compared to others their age.It can zero-in on how a person's brain works and how this may be affecting their overall functioning.
The Parent consultation can be preventative one-time visit or phone contact with a child therapist, or the beginning of a short relationship that will include the child. Together, the parent and counselor identify a path that would best meet the needs of the children and family. As a parent, you know this well, especially if you have more than one child.
