Built in 1999, and formerly known as the Roots Lodge, this property was developed to give the feel of a 1920's oceanfront fishing village nestled amidst the lush rain forest. Cedar walkways and paths are peppered throughout to connect each cottage and loft home. The vision of the Roots Lodge was to offer a "grown-up" version of going to camp.
Sleeping bags & bunk beds were replaced with beautiful maple beds covered in soft, cozy Roots Home fleece sheets. Free time activities of "kick-the can" and "arts & crafts" were replaced with whale watching, sea kayaking and beach combing. And, campfire sing-alongs were replaced with unplugged performances by none other than the iconic, Canadian Barenaked Ladies Band.

While I cannot comment on the accommodations, my review is due to an unfortunate experience I had with the management at Terrace Beach. I had a reservation via Airbnb which I requested to reschedule due to a family member's concern around travelling at this time given the new covid variant; I even offered to make our refund subject to the resort being able to rebook the dates of our stay with a new guest. At first, the resort offered to rebook us with a $100 penalty, which we accepted. On that same day, however, as we exchanged messages to find new dates, management suddenly changed their mind

A group of us accidentally booked the wrong dates - we immediately emailed to ask if the 3 day stay could be switched by one day earlier. Management responded saying that there would be a $400 charge to change the dates! This unprofessional action is embarrassing to the company - attempting to undercut us behind the scenes.

I was among a group of six that had made a reservation in 2020 to stay at the Captain's Quarters cabin at Terrace Beach Resort. Due to a variety of circumstances - both ours and the resort's - we had to rebook our trip into 2021. When we rebooked, we were assured that the price of our stay would not change. Two weeks before our stay, we were contacted and told that the cabin had been sold and the new owner did not want to honor our original booking rate - despite the fact that we had already paid a deposit. They raised the price 350% (a difference of approximately $3000) and gave us two weeks notice

We have been to Terrace Beach Resort several times and every time has been relaxing and wonderful. Close to all amenities, right off the West Coast Trail and a beautiful view of Terrace Beach. We have stayed in a loft as well as several different cabins. The only place we ever want to go back to over and over.

Nice place to stay for a couple days. Terrace Beach is so close and the perfect spot to watch sunsets. We only find out that the hot tub would not be working due to covid the morning of our check in, which was disappointing. The place wasn’t sparkling clean as well which was surprising especially during covid.
