Hello, I am Joelle McKiernan, MSW, RSW, CCC, a counsellor and therapist based in Northwestern BC. In 2001, I opened Mourning's Dawn Counselling to address the unresolved grief and trauma I saw in the local community. Since that time, I have been helping those who feel "lost" and "in the darkness" to discover the light of a new day.
I know that each person is experiencing a unique situation, which is why I am committed to spending the time to understand and identify your needs and provide an individualized solution. At Mourning's Dawn Counselling, I offer therapeutic counselling to those struggling with emotional issues, as well as one-on-one, family and group therapies for adults, adolescents, and children.

Services
Joelle McKiernan has been in private practice since 2001 in Northwestern BC. In her practice, she is privileged to have many contracts (Victims of Crime Program, EAP's, Health Canada and extended Health Benefits) while also working in first nation communities to assist front line staff and members in dealing with trauma, grief and loss.
If you have experienced an emotional trauma or you feel that your mental and emotional health can be improved, Mourning's Dawn Counselling is here to help. Based in Northwestern BC, I work with clients of all ages to navigate emotional issues, identify problems and come up with a solution that is right for you.
If you feel like you are losing control of your emotional and mental well-being, you should not be afraid to seek the proper guidance and information to help improve your situation. As the counsellor and therapist of Mourning's Dawn Counselling in Northwestern BC, I know that discussing your feelings and concerns in a supportive setting can help to transform your life.
As a counsellor and therapist, I realize that therapy and counselling can seem intimidating to clients, especially young children and teenagers. And, the idea of discussing your emotional situation with a relative stranger is enough to put anyone on edge. At Mourning's Dawn Counselling in Northwestern BC, I employ expressive play, a therapeutic approach which helps children and adolescents express themselves through creativity and imagination.
As the counsellor and therapist of Mourning's Dawn Counselling, I am proud to work with members of the First Nations community throughout Northwestern BC. I continue to provide outreach to reserves, offering one-on-one counselling, special group therapy including specialized staff development and community-supported wellness projects.
