For the past few years Liz-Ann has been attending dental missions to become experienced at providing basic intermediate temporary restorative services. These are designed to reduce pain and protect tooth structure for those with barriers to receiveing traditional dental treatment. IST is appropriate for children and adults, requires no needles and is generally very well tolerated.
The goal of Interim Stabilization Therapy is to reduce pain, preserve tooth structure and stabilize the tooth until such time as the client is able to access traditional dentistry for restorations. Sometimes a combination of circumstances can cause serious tooth problems, especially when people need to delay seeing a dental professional for whatever reason.

Services
The head and neck exam, including the oral cancer screening and periodontal measurements, are done in the dental hygiene clinic. We check for lumps and bumps and other unusual events you may or may not have noticed. Oral cancer is a serious issue - you might as well learn what to look for. Scaling is the process whereby old deposits that have hardened on teeth are removed so inflammation can stop.
This is an independent dental hygiene clinic: no dentist on site. The modern, climate-controlled facility is located next to several health care professionals and is fully wheelchair accessible. The office has been renovated into a modern dental hygiene operatory with x-ray, fast whitening equipment and up-to-date sterilizing equipment.
We welcome children of all ages: the sooner, the better. Children can be seen here as soon as they can sit up to have their first visit and introduction to the sights, smells and sounds of a little dental hygiene treatment. When dental hygiene visits are productive and fun, kids leave feeling at ease, and they will do much better if ever they need some dental repair work done.
I've had dental care for a long time, and I take care of myself, but it turns out I did not know what I was doing. You helped me to learn how to take care of myself better. Now that I have been coming regularly I have evidence for the first time that my gum health and attachment have improved and I am sure I will have my teeth for life now.

I had my first appt. today, what a great experience. I am so pleased with how informative my experience was, not only did I have the deepest clean I have ever had done on my teeth, I was more impressed with the hygienist. The passion and attention to detail, was above and beyond. This was the first time I had everything explained to me in detail… about oral hygiene, and proper preventive care. Very thorough, it was not rushed at all. I've only ever had the very basics explained to me, very robotic and basic cleaning, just rushed in and out at previous places. Not here! I recieved wonderful

I was very pleased with my first hygiene appointment at The Smile People today. Liz-Ann did the most thorough exam I’ve ever had, and educated me on several preventive products and procedures to help me preserve my teeth, gums and bone. She did a great job of cleaning my teeth too! I found the office environment very comfortable. I’ll definitely be back!

I have been a patient for over 4 years. Lizanne the owner and hygenist offers a service like no other. She genuinely cares about dential health, prevention, and maintenance. Teaching me how to look after my teeth and gums to ensure I will meet my goal of healthy strong teeth well into my old age. I never enjoyed or felt I could afford regular visits to a convential dental practise. Smile People offers me something I was always looking for without fear of being pressured or judged. Plus the atomsphere is so down to earth with great music. Highly recommend, it is a unique and refreshing experience

Thank You to Liz Ann for teaching me about my mouth and mouth health in a simple non judgmental way. She taught me more than all the dentists and hygienists I have seen in my entire life combined, and she did this all in about one hour!
She asked me a few questions and explained what she was seeing in my mouth in a sort of a matter of fact way. She explained what I need to do to help myself and why I need to pay attention to my mouth health.
She also covered "looking forward" which detailed what my mouth's future would look like if I kept on doing what I was doing.

Today I phoned Liz-Anne to gather information on how an experienced Independent Dental Hygienist can run a Dental Hygiene practice. Hi, this is Gayle. I would say that being a dental hygienist is not a job for Liz Ann but more like a calling. lo I have NEVER had my teeth and gums so well taken care of. I like the focus on preventative measures but also the assurance that, given the right care, the mouth will heal itself. If you need a hygiene appt, I would go the The Smile People because that is what they do there, they are experts.
