Dr. Benny Xu, acupuncturist, was born in a family of Chinese medicine practitioners and is the founder and Executive Director of the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACATCM).
As a distinguished acupuncturist, and a recipient of the Alberta Centennial Medal for his outstanding services and contributions to the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine and training in Alberta, Dr. Xu was an instrumental part in transforming the acupuncture profession from 'Alberta Labour' to 'Alberta Health' in the early 1990s.

Recognized across Canada, the USA (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), and China. Our flagship three-year Acupuncture Diploma program is the longest-running in Alberta and regarded as one of the most advanced in the world. For more than two decades, the Acupuncture Diploma program has been proven to be the most comprehensive and well-rounded available in Canada.
Graduates (full-time students) will receive a Diploma in Acupuncture at the end of the 3rd year and may proceed to the licensing process thereafter. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approaches health and illness fundamentally differently from modern medicine (Western medicine), it is not only documented as the oldest medicine, but it has also always been part of the primary health care system In China throughout history.
Take your diploma to the next level with our upgrading program. With your accredited diploma, you could receive a Bachelor's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine in 1-2 years. The candidates will be assessed individually for flexible timelines and schedules.
The International Acupuncture Foundation Program (IAFP) is a program designed for international students who have demonstrated the educational proficiency and qualifications needed for an administration to our school, excluding the requirements to a certain level of credentials in English. This program is designed to prepare students to successfully complete our diploma studies in Acupuncture.

The doctors and staff at this clinic are incredible. I suffered from severe, crippling, period pain. It was extremely hard for me to get out of bed, and I sometimes had to take days off of work; even with prescribed pain medication. After about half a year of treatment from both the doctors and residents at this clinic, I was able to completely come off prescription pain killers.

I first heard about this clinic from a friend and wanted to seek treatment for my lower back pain. I did not believe in acupuncture at first but the doctors here made me change my mind. My back has never been better since coming here and honestly it is unbelievable how effective the treatments are. 100% would recommend!

This place is wonderful and I highly recommend it. My teenage daughter has gone here for the last couple months and received acupuncture from Dr. Ying Ying Cong and her health has improved significantly. Her bedside manner is impecable and her expertise is unmatched from any other health care provider I've seen. Everyone in the clinic is very friendly and knowledgable and my daughter loves going (and hates needles so much she has actually fainted from vaccines). I trust her in the care of these doctors and believe they are helping her in a way that traditional medicine has been unable to in the

Thank you Dr. Xu Ning for treating my parents. My mother got a car accident many years ago and broke her leg, but she has been suffering for years. After Dr. Xu Ning's treatment, the pain was greatly reduced and may recover soon. Dr. Xu Ning also helped my father relieve his back pain. Very good doctor.

They care and listen to what you need , I came in there with red skin syndrome and was going through topical steroid withdrawl , my doctors were not recongizing it , Then I found sarah an intern and she has helped me the last 4 months , so caring , and when i explained what was happening to me she did her own reasearch to help me out! true caring people who wanna help !

My mom has been to this college of acupuncture for a while. The doctor is nice and professional. However, yesterday after she got home, she found out that there were 2 needles still attached to her neck. And when she took off her jacket, another 2 needles fell out. So the doctor forgot a total of 4 needles! That really surprised us! Be sure to check if all the needles are taken out after your treatment. That's the lesson we learn. We did call them, and they apologized and offered a free treatment.

My time at ACATCM equipped me with academic, practical, and application based knowledge and skills to bring to clients. All instructors were highly knowledgeable, personable, and shared their own clinical experience and knowledge to help students succeed. I really enjoyed their faculty and student teaching clinic which gives students hands-on training to practice diagnosing, treating, and building on patient-practitioner skills. Upon graduating, I was confident of my knowledge and skills because of the training I received at ACATCM.
