Services
Our mission is to serve each family to the absolute best of our ability, along with their friends and to give to the good of our community in which we live and serve. We believe that our first responsibility is to each family that has honoured us to serve them and all others who use our service and products.
At George Darte Funeral Chapel Inc., we strive to help families honour those they love through top-quality funeral services that serve as an important first step in the grieving and healing process. Whether clients opt for a customary religious service or a non-traditional celebration of life, we're committed to providing first-class services with dignity, compassion and unmatched excellence.
John J. Patterson (George Darte's Great-Grandfather) started our business in 1911. He had worked on the then new Welland Canal and had made enough money to get into something he had always wanted -- funeral service. His son-in-law George Darte (who married Maude Patterson) joined him and his two brothers-in-law Harold and Gerald Patterson.
George is a very active member of our community and is always willing to give his time to a good cause.
George is a past chair of the Breakthrough Healthcare Campaign, a founding member and past chair of the St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation, and a founding member of: The Bereavement Ontario Network, The Bereavement Resource Council of Niagara, Wellspring Niagara (a cancer support center) and the crisis response teams for the separate & public school boards.George is also the proud father of 2 sons and his grandchildren.

We at the George Darte Funeral Chapel are very involved in our community. Some with churches, service clubs, athletics, charities, youth organizations, and more. One constant among our staff is that we are passionate about giving back to our community. Said good bye to my grandfather here 40 years ago and said goodbye to my gramma today. Considering the pandemic they did a great job. They were sensitive but straightforward, which I appreciated very much. My grandmother had all the arrangements taken care of previously so that made it easier, but they were still very clear that if we wanted anything else or if there was anything we needed from them, they were available. They also took all the right steps in Covid protocols and I felt safe there.

You better be loaded with dough before you walk in this funeral home or they will show you the door. No compassion or compromise whatsoever. When it was a small funeral home they couldn't do enough for you now that they are one of if not the biggest in town it is all about the money. I wouldn't even attend a funeral being held there now. One star is too much.

One of the last remaining local funeral homes in the Niagara Region. Great people to work with, not pushy on services, and willing to work in your budget. No one wants to deal with a funeral home, but if you're looking for compassionate help and understanding at one of the most difficult times in your life, George and his team are the people to see. Highly recommended.

My family and I were so happy with making our decision to celebrate my husband’s life at George Darte Funeral Home. The staff were professional, caring and compassionate to the loss of my love one. It didn’t take long into the process to decide that this was exactly what we were looking for. The visitation, sanctuary rooms had the capability to expand to accommodate a large funeral and also a reception room without leaving the premises with catering availability.
It is modern and inviting with its fireplace to welcome your guests. The after care program helped to complete forms and process

The George Darte family is just that, -Family. They are extremely compassionate and professional in all their interactions. At the time of your greatest need they take you by the hand and walk you through it every step of the way, and their service does not stop there. They follow up with family and check on them. Their facility is first rate. Thank you so very much for your considerate care of David Dennis and his family.
A loving daughter.
