Donovan's Driver Education has been teaching Class 1 and 3 truck driver training in Edmonton for 17 years. We are a family-owned business and one of Edmonton's premier truck driving schools with a proven success rate. Our instructors are exceptional in providing a student with the type of exposure and training they need to pass any class of license.
Additional driver training is available at $120/hour for automatic and $110/hour for manual. A student must successfully complete the Provincial Class 1 Driver's Exam before they are permitted to take the final road test. This exam may be taken at any Alberta Registry Agent and is available at a cost *$18.00.
For over 30 years Donovan Driver Education has set the standard in training professional Class One drivers in Alberta. Donovan Driver Education hires only the most qualified and knowledgeable instructors available in the industry. You get more than just driver training, you get the techniques and skills that only experienced instructors can offer.
The air brake course is a full day course (Class Duration 6.5 Hrs), offered thrice per week. It starts at 6:30 AM for registration and ends around 4:00 PM. In the classroom theory part, the student will learn about the braking fundamentals, the components of the air brake system and how they work. The goal of this course is to show students how to test and maintain the system for proper function.
There are several classes of licenses in Alberta. But when it comes to a Class 1 or 3 license in Alberta, you cannot get your license until you have held your Class 7 for one year, then driven with a Class 5 non-GDL for at least 2 years. Upon the completion of your exam to have your GDL removed, you are able to upgrade to all other classes of licenses.

This place was amazing! Just passed my class 1 MELT today...first shot. Aman, lal and Ekjot make the experience easy and friendly. I dont think any instructor would've gotten through to me better than Aman. I think learning to drive was a great time with Lal, as it was more like friends going for a drive. These instructors get to know your personality and train from there. AMAZING...if you need to get your license please save your time and money and go here! Trust the process.

Extremely nice and polite front end staff. Their customer service was incredible! Professional and organized. Can often get you your road test faster than their quoted days. The price for a Class 3 road test was extremely reasonable. The instructors were very helpful and polite. They explained the testing procedures very clearly. I had Harlal Gill as an instructor and he was very helpful and professional. Would definitely recommend going here for all of your class 1, 2 or 3 needs.

I had a great time at Donovan's Driver Education learning how to operate a tractor trailer. The instructors, Aman and Harlal, were always positive and made me feel confident in my operating abilities. They pace the course out well and make sure you're 100% before moving on to a new skill. The office staff were also great by working behind the scenes to make sure the training flowed smoothly, and were very accommodating with the scheduling. I am very glad I chose Donovan's and would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their license.
