Taycare Junior Children's Centre
In 1989, Tayside Community Residential & Support Options formed in response to the closing of Ellenvale Nursing Home. A group of people in the community recognized a need to provide quality service to individuals with developmental disabilities. In 1991, Tayside built its first home on South Street, named Brady House after the Brady family.

The individuals and staff moved into the house in late 1991. The office staff and executive director moved to a rented space in the Johnson-Cross Accounting building on Foster Street. The Town of Perth asked Tayside to take over operation of the child care centre on Wilson Street East. When the child care facility attached to St. John's High School opened, the office moved to its present location in the child care building on Wilson Street East.
Services
With the expansion of our services to meet the growing needs of the community, Tayside will occasionally have positions to be filled. We seek to employ qualified individuals who demonstrate professionalism as well as the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Selection of candidates will be in keeping with the principles of the Ontario Human Rights Code.
For many, feeling a part of the community is a fact of life. For others, especially individuals with disabilities, being accepted and participating in the community is a daily challenge. At Tayside, we focus on an individual's abilities. Through specially designed housing, programs, and individual support services, people with disabilities are able to live more independent and productive lives.
Tayside currently operates five homes designed and staffed to meet the needs of individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities. Daily activities and programs emphasize independence and integration. Our homes are fully compliant with current safety codes and are inspected regularly. Modern facilities with motorized lifts, specialized equipment and safety features ensure that our clients receive the highest standard of care.
The Home Share Program is part of the Home Share Provincial and Eastern Ontario Home Share Association. This service matches individuals with families looking to share their homes and lives with people who could benefit from their support. Our staff members work closely with the Home Share provider to ensure the needs of both the provider and the client are met.
TayCare Children's Centres provide full and part-time daycare programs in Perth for children from 18 months to 12 years of age. Children with special needs are welcome in all of our programs. All TayCare programs are licensed under the Child Care and Early Years Act.

Qualified staff are members of the College of Early Childhood Educators; full-time staff have up to 25 years of experience in the child care field, and all staff have Standard First Aid, CPR training, and a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check.Staff take part in workshops regularly to keep them up to date on new ideas and strategies in the child care field.
