Come of our fully equipped, natural and healthy log cottages for a relaxing holiday. Each of the six cottages are nestled in a magnificent forest of Canadian maples, spruce and birch trees. The cottages are close enough to visit your neighbour but far away enough to enjoy your privacy. Here, you forget the time. We call it slow down living. Hidden in the middle of the forest, you will find the glory of relaxation - our forest sauna.
Services
The Vipilodge is owned by the Vollmer-Family. Arthur (*9.3.1930 - 26.12.2012) was the technician, log house builder, hobbyist, entertainer and a gifted storyteller (his sense of humour was irresistible) at the Vipilodge. His wife Maria Vollmer is responsible for the accommodation and accounting matters.
Our lodge is in the middle of scenic Cape Breton Island and close to the world renowned Cabot Trail. Less is the "new" more. Privacy is guaranteed as each log cottage is not too close to the next. The six Cottages are designed for a maximum of 2 people per cottage. A replacement bed for a child can be provided on request.
Relax in the soothing heat in our forest sauna after a full day of activities. The sauna is heated to 65 - 80 degrees, a dry heat. We provide sufficient towels. Beside the sauna you can stay in our "relaxing hut", where you can read, dream or just have a nap. The Clubhouse is a larger cottage where you can socialize, talk, party, read or listen to music.
VIPI Lodge is located in one of the best (and unknown!) paddling areas in Cape Breton. The area extends around Janvrin's Island and Isle Madame. Interesting wildlife, remote Islands, coves and beaches are waiting to be explored. Depending on the wind direction paddlers can go to the south or the north side of the island for their tour and will be in the slipstream and in protected waters.

We are planning to go back soon! What a wonderful place for people that love nature...you can walk along the beaches or use the walk ways around the lodge. We arrived on a very rainy day but having an umbrella in the cabin made our day! Ingo is a great guy...always there for you...helping out or answering your questions. There was nothing that we missed out on....it was like a honeymoon for my partner and I.Thank you so much ....for everything!

Sometimes you find gems that you don't know whether to tell the world about or keep to yourself. This is one of those places.
As a Cape Bretoner (in Halifax these days), I thought I knew of all the magical places on the island but was blown away by the simple beauty of this natural getaway. Additionally the hospitality and kindness of owners Maria and son Ingo is second to none. Treat yourself and go out on the boat for half a day, spend an evening in the sauna, and enjoy a morning coffee on the dock listening to sea birds and seals.
Fantastic experience I won't forget. Thank you. <3
