Chisholms of Troy Coastal Cottages and Suites sit on a 100 acre ancestral oceanfront farm property here on Route 19 in Troy, Cape Breton Island. Your host and owner, James Mac Donald is a member of the sixth generation of the Chisholm family on this property, first settled in the very early 1800s by Anne Chisholm and her immigrant family from Scotland.
A working farm until the early 1990s, the property has been brought back to life as a four-star Canada Select rated cottage and suite property. The original home built almost two hundred years ago has been lovingly restored to original design and the barn now converted to our office and four courtyard suites.

The cottages were immaculately clean and so carefully decorated. From the seashell shaped cloths to the high quality bath towels to the ice made in the freezer. The owners obviously take great pride in their business and it shows. The high ceilings make the cottages feel more like a home than a cottage. These are truly the nicest cottages we have ever stayed at and the VIEW is spectacular. The owners are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Highly Recommend and when we return to this area we will stay again.

Have to love this cottage, as it is well maintained strategically equip, and reasonably priced. The owner operator, a pleasant gentleman, always really take care of their business!
Location is far from the national park, but them closer to Halifax airport, making it easy to fly back without another stopover at Halifax, which was the primary reason behind my search and booking.
