Synpatic Spinal Cord Injury
Moving forward from an injury or diagnosis - you may be left to find and pay for therapy resources on your own, often facing long wait lists for access, and possibly in a treatment program that is not a match for you. Whether your goal is to be more independent, manage the progression of a condition or take those first steps in your recovery, we support reaching your maximum potential and improving the quality of your life.

By looking beyond the diagnosis to ensure all rehab potential is explored, clients are given the opportunity to define their own recovery path. Along with other methodologies, the innovative evaluation and rehabilitation technology is used to improve balance, strength, and range of motion; increase cardiovascular function; improve bone density; manage pain; and decrease tone/spasms.
Services
In partnership with forward-thinking entrepreneurs, Synaptic Spinal Cord Injury and Neurological Rehabilitation Centre was created to fill a gap for services for people living with spinal cord injuries, stroke, tutors, and progressive neurological conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease.
However, neuroscientists continually prove the rerouting of neurological connections is possible. The human brain can change. Building on this knowledge, the SYNAPTIC team helps clients forge connections that allow the brain and body to work concurrently to potentially reconnect and relearn functional movements.
A combination of services, treatments, equipment, and technology - all delivered by interdisciplinary Health Care providers. Your program focuses on individual goals to improve your quality of life and empower your individual journey. Our programs are supported by research demonstrating muscle training strengthens neuromuscular activity.
PoNS (short for Portable Neuromodulation Stimulator) is an innovative, non-surgical medical device delivering mild electrical stimulation to the nerves on the surface of the tongue that connect with nerves in the brain. This stimulation, in conjunction with targeted therapeutic activities, has the potential to restore balance and gait in individuals with chronic balance deficit due to a mild or moderate Traumatic Brain Injury, MS, or Concussion.
Using electrodes attached to the skin, small electrical pulses are sent directly to the neurologically impaired muscles. These electrical stimuli are programmed by physical therapists and are coordinated by computer software, resulting in corresponding muscle contractions and limb movements, which the users would otherwise not be able to achieve on their own.

Overheard physical therapists talking about a patient they have there by name, in a public area, in a negative way. I know this person they spoke of as a friendly acquaintance. So inappropriate for healthcare. What happened to confidentiality training?

I highly recommend Synaptic to anyone looking to heal an injury, improve mobility, look after your longterm health. I have been going there for a few years now and the staff are very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I was able to completely recover from an Achilles rupture with their help. I always suggest this clinic to my friends and family.

I have been seeing Uyen for over 10 years for various sports injuries and can confidently say she is the best physiotherapist I have ever met. She takes the time with her clients and treats through manual manipulation, acupuncture, and cupping. I always feel so much better afterward. I am inspired by the work she does with spinal chord injuries, and would highly recommend this clinic for all situations.

We have been so impressed with Synaptic, their staff, equipment and overall experience! Our Father suffered a Spinal cord injury almost 2 years ago and this has really been the place to lift his spirits and push him beyond his limits. They have incredible staff that care about your progress, that challenge you and help you get to your goal whatever that may be. Their equipment is state of the art that you will not find anywhere else, and the facility is large and located in a prime location. We are so grateful for finding this place! It has really made a world of a difference for our Father. It

Less than year ago I broke my C1 and C7 in a snowboarding accident. After attending the seven sessions covered by AHS, at one of the larger physiotherapy companies in Calgary, I was still stiff as a board and weak as a kitten. Doing the same exercises as people with shoulder injuries didn't get me very far.
I started going to Synaptic (physiotherapy with Uyen and massage with Gordon) and my recovery skyrocketed. After a couple of sessions and doing the exercises provided, that were tailored to my needs, it was noticeable that I was on the right track.
My goals were to be able to do the same physical
