Individuals who wish to enter Canada and remain temporarily to visit, work or study must usually submit an application authorizing them to do so. Whether individuals want to enter Canada for the purpose of visiting, working or studying they must meet certain requirements and demonstrate to an Officer that their purpose of entry is legitimate.
Individuals wishing to stay in Canada for longer than their initial authorized period of stay as Visitors can apply for a Visitor Record. If you apply to extend your stay before the expiry of your period of authorized stay you will have temporary resident (visitor) status until a decision is rendered.
Most individuals require a work permit to be able to Work in Canada, some are exempt from such a requirement and may work without a work permit. In General individuals are required to have a work permit which either requires a Valid Job Offer (Employer Specific Work Permit) or in some cases a Valid Job Offer is not required (Open Work Permits).
