Mike is entering his 4th year as Director of Hockey Operations at Victus Academy. Mike is also the founder and owner of HockeyDetail. Mike played professionally and coached in Europe for over 15 years winning National championships as a player and coach in both in Great Britain and Italy.
Mike Ellis is currently the Director of Skills Development for the Tampa Bay Lightening (NHL), Syracuse Crunch (AHL), and also works directly with Hockey Canada Women's Team National Development Program.He has also worked recently with the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL) as a Development Consultant.

Victus Academy is comprised of 2 very important features: a private school education with small class sizes and a high level hockey skill-development program run by professional coaches. We highlight the important features of both that we offer and why Victus Academy is the right opportunity for dedicated student-athletes.
The founders of Victus Academy are Dan, Rose, Matthew, Taylor and Logan Schmidt, of Kitchener, Ontario. They have a passion for academic and athletic excellence, and they recognized a need for a unique, high performance institution in the broader Waterloo Region. As life-long residents of the Region, they were determined to bring such an institution to the area rather than have some of the best athletes move to other centers.
Victus Academy is located at Sportsworld Arena, a premiere, municipally owned facility. It accommodates all classrooms, on-ice programs, strength and conditioning and other programs and activities. All activities take place at the arena, which will contribute to and foster the collegial atmosphere of the school.
Does Victus Academy have a school team that will play against other schools? In the past, we have had a U18 Team, but it is being discontinued for this season due to the success of promoting our players to higher levels. We are now focusing on the skill development while allowing our students to play Midget (and qualifying for the U18 Draft) and Junior hockey and then focusing on promoting our players to higher levels for the following season.
Victus Academy was a fantastic experience for me! The smaller classes helped me excel in my studies and I made some friendships during my time at Victus that are still strong today. Victus have highly knowledgeable instructors teaching skills-training, skating, and shooting on a daily basis. I believe attending Victus Academy truly brought out my love for the game and definitely attributed to me getting drafted to the OHL.
