This league of hockey teams is for men 35 years of age and older, playing up to 2 games per week, approximately 45 games in total, from late September through March each year. There are currently 30 teams in 5 different divisions. Initial placement in a division is based on age, experience and ability and we try to fit each player to a division, and sometimes do so intra-season.
An important consideration for prospective new players - we are not set up to be a 'learn to play' league. There is a minimum standard for skating ability and knowledge of the game, this being important for many reasons including player safety. All games are local and are played Monday to Thursday evenings with game start times ranging from 6:30 to 10:30 pm, and Sunday 3:30 to 5:00 pm start times.

Games are played Sunday to Thursday with start times generally 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM (3:30 PM to 5:30 PM on Sunday). One final game, bragging rights only, is played based on the playoff round-robin standings. Applications for the next year are distributed and then collected by the team captains by Final Night, including waiver form and cheque where applicable.
If any signs or symptoms of a concussion are suspected they should not be permitted to return to the game and seek medical attention, such as family physician the next day. Special attention to those who are on blood thinners such as (warfarin, elicit, xarelto, pradaxa, plavix) as they may be at increased risk of brain bleeds from head injuries.

The K-W Oldtimers league uses 'pool players' to supplement its full time player ranks. As is often the case, when full-time players are unable to attend a game the team captains at each divisional level will call players from their pool to fill in. These pool players are generally shared between teams within a division, often rotating as smaller sets between teams during the season which gives players an opportunity to meet more members.
