Welcome to our Cottage Style Motel and Campground situated in the heartland of Vancouver Island's Pacific Rim region. The Somass Motel's mid-island location in Port Alberni makes it the perfect base for day trips throughout the Pacific Rim and Central Vancouver Island areas. We believe we offer one of the finest motel accommodation properties in Port Alberni.
Our free, in-room, amenities rival those of larger, full-service hotels that might charge for the same services. Parking is available right outside your motel room door and we have found that a motel can have certain benefits for sports teams or families traveling with children. We have a seasonal outdoor pool, basketball area and several garden areas where the younger set can expend some of their extra energy.

Services
Our 100 % non smoking, air conditioned rooms and suites have been renovated and refurbished and our wonderful Sealy beds will lull you into a well deserved and restful sleep. Guests who wish to purchase one of our beds are welcome to contact our supplier directly. Our well-appointed 1 and 2 bedroom fully equipped kitchen suites or standard rooms with fridge and microwave are varied to suit your accommodation needs.
Although the campsites still have grass between and around them, in Spring 2011 we graveled and graded the RV Site parking pads. The Alberni Valley receives quite a bit of rain, and during the earlier and latter parts of the shoulder seasons the availability of campsites can be subject to weather conditions.
At the head of Alberni Inlet, a deep fjord coming in from the Pacific Ocean to the west, and in the heartland of Vancouver Island's west coast Pacific Rim region, Port Alberni has the advantage of being no more than 400 kilometers (250 miles) by road from virtually every other community on the island.
Follow Highway #1 North until it changes to Highway #19, then follow #19 North to the Parksville area, then watch for signs leading you off Highway #19 to Highway #4 West and/or Port Alberni. Check in time is generally 2 pm, however, subject to availability, requests for an earlier check in time may be accommodated. Check out is usually 11 am. Subject to availability, if you would like to have a later check out time, or stay over, we would appreciate your advising our office the day prior.

Didn't even get to stay as the hotel called to inform us they were charging us extra for our 10 and 12 year old kids to stay with us even though it was a room with 2 double beds and a pull out couch. I told the guy that they are kids and he said anyone over 10 is an adult and gets charged extra. We cancelled our stay as we didn't think it was right to charge us extra for our kids. Booked with another hotel were we all stayed for one price!!

For a motel I give it five stars. Clean, well laid out decent size room and quiet. Parking in front of the door. Decent sized fridge. They also have a few larger units probably two bedrooms that were booked. Pool looked good though did not swim. RV area tucked in behind trees is a nice spot with picknick tables. I would stay again and can recommend.

My boys and I thought the room was a little small at first but there was quite a few outdoor activities that kept us busy.π Rooms were very clean aswell as linens and cooking utensils. Lots of outdoor seating and privacy areas, close to amenities and a great fry truck across the road.. would definitely recommend to anyone. ππ

Very unclean, had a smell when first entered. next day looked like its coming from the washroom, flushed a lot but the smell didnt go. kids were very uncomfortable because of it. there was a sofa in the room which was dirty and it was touching the ground in the middle. the staff was very rude too. checkout was 11 am and they started calling on room phone from 9:30. will not recommend.
