Gateway Recovery Centre is set on 14-wooded acres in the Kawarthas, just on the outskirts of Peterborough, Ontario. Surrounded by green space and bordering an 18-hole golf course, our 22,000 square-foot facility has been specifically designed and decorated to create a relaxing, restorative environment.
Gateway Recovery Centre embraces a client-centered, whole-person approach to drug and alcohol addiction treatment. We use evidence-based therapies with an emphasis on nutrition to heal the body and mind. We use a variety of evidence-based therapies to help clients understand the root causes of their addiction and address behavioural and thought patterns.
Individual therapy refers to when a client is treated on a one-on-one basis with a psychotherapist. A person may seek therapy when they want support with issues that are difficult to manage on their own. By attending therapy, a person has the opportunity to broaden their support network and gain a better understanding of themselves.
Clients who participate in group therapy sessions support one another and are united by a common goal: to get and stay sober. By interacting with others and receiving feedback, clients who participate in group therapy often gain a greater understanding of themselves and the underlying reasons for their behaviour.

Great place for addictions but for mental health its the worst. I had a bad time there. The counselors were pre chosen and couldnt change to someone else. Definitely not a place for mental health issues. Other than the counselors the rest of the staff was very understanding and amazing. They were the real people that helped me.

My family & I researched a lot, before deciding on CHRC. This was the best decision of my life. The CHRC approach to healing is like no other, concentrating on you on an emotional, mental and physical level. It helped me learn & fix not only my mind and thought processes but also my diet, eating habits, specific supplements as well as exercise, yoga and spirituality. They allowed me to be me, giving me time alone, time with groups, one on one conversations and still be able to see my family. I would most definitely recommend CHRC to anyone looking for help on any level. The staff is wonderful,

Before I came to CHRC I had no hope for myself and was convinced that I'd never be able to have a happy life. CHRC gave me this hope back by helping me see that I do love myself. This was a huge part of my recovery because after I realized this I was able to work on finding compassion for others, communicating with others, how to live in the now and find good in every situation.
If I had a friend whom was seeking treatment I would suggest CHRC because of their approach and how they just don't focus on your DOC but on the emotional aspect. I would also encouraged them to come in with as much of

My individual counselor was fantastic. I appreciated the opportunity to have 1 on 1 time with other counselors as well. Group work was the key to this program. I loved the yoga, meditation, spirituality classes, fitness coaching and accu-detox. I would tell anyone considering enrollment in the CHRC program that it could change your life if you are willing to change your life.

I have learned a great deal about myself from being at CHRC. I've learned about my behaviours, my pitfalls and what works for me and what doesn't.
I have become more aware of my emotions. I've become proud and actually happy about my progress, instead of fake happiness.
This place, and the people, helped me gain a sense of self-worth I've never authentically had.
If you enroll, take anything and everything you can in. This place can change your life if you're receptive to the process. You miss every shot you don't take!

This was the best money I have ever spent. It was an amazing place that teaches a variety of different tools that are beneficial to recovery. It is very important coming to this place for yourself, not just to please others. If you want to change this is the perfect place, very interactive, so much to do outside during free time, like basketball, bocce, games room, TV room, music room. It is easy to keep busy. The councillors are all awesome and can really help you see things in yourself that you've never thought about. It's an amazing program and they know what their doing. I highly recommend

My experience with both the individual and group counselling sessions was very positive. I found the meals and quality of food to enjoyable. Nutrition class was enlightening and the introduction to the supplements while reviewing the blood analysis was informative. I enjoyed Andrew's yoga classes. The most important thing I've learned is the importance of support networks in our lives and for our well being generally. I would encourage people to consider enrolling in the CHRC program but explain to that is isn't a hotel experience, it does involve a mix of different people, has a lot of rules and

My time at CHRC helped me to realize the importance of self care, and how quickly life can spiral out of control if not exercised.
After applying techniques given in one-on-one and group sessions, I was able to regain my confidence and calm my racing mind. My counsellor was able to help me navigate me through suppressed memories and emotions, shedding light on areas of my fe that contained such darkness. Notable breakthroughs that occurred were: Learning to love myself, My personal connection with my higher power, Forgiveness to myself and others (a big one), Acceptance, Slowing down my anxiety

I noticed that the real me is back...a happy, kind, sharing person. My counsellor was the right one for me - without him I probably wouldn't have made it, I opened up to him and he was extremely helpful, the group sessions were great also. I love the way the meals made me feel mentally and physically. The nutritionist changed my whole way of thinking about what I eat - she was fantastic and I will miss her very much! I learned to enjoy Yoga, meditation and spirituality. The rooms were very clean and nice with all the comforts of home to make me comfortable - except no TV's!

The facility was five star. The staff, counsellors and management were great, kind, always there, friendly and had great knowledge. Rooms, all buildings, and kitchen - everything was very clean and well kept. It is a great atmosphere for recovery.
With my individual sessions with my counsellor, I was slow to open up but when i did she was not long to figure me out. She is very good had her job and knew how to get e to talk.
Group sessions were all great, they helped me think and straighten out my thoughts.
I had never really paid much attention to nutrition before. It was really good to go over
