With 25 years of experience, the professional staff at Island Orthotics custom fabricate all types of unique devices. Each Certified Orthotist has a minimum eight years of education and practical training, and they work closely with physicians, therapists and their clients to design and fit the orthoses that works to enhance functionality and quality of life.

I am steering my human clients towards my colleague James Tarrant C.O.(c) at "Ability Orthotics" for any human bracing needs. Hopefully you can book an appointment with James soon, although he might be a bit busier now with my closing.

Born with spina bifida and loss of feeling in my feet I have always had a lazy right foot when walking. The field of orthotics involves the design, fabrication and fitting of orthoses (braces or splints) intended to prevent or correct deformities, protect a painful part of the body or improve the function of a weakened extremity.

The Dr was very nice and easy to talk with. They don’t try and get you to buy expensive items if it’s not needed. Would definitely go to again!

I got mixed up with the time change and was late for my appointment. I was fit in any way. HE PUT ALL NEW straps on my brace and What difference in my walking, I feel much better.

My dog Nyx has severe joint degeneration in her hind hock and needed a brace to help support it. Island Orthotics was recommend by our veterinarian to do the work. Tim built a brace for Nyx and diligently made several adjustments and finally built a new brace with a new design to give Nyx the best support & comfort possible (all for the first price quoted). He even stopped in Nanaimo on his vacation to view how the brace fitted and then couriered the second brace to us, all so we didn't have to take the trip to Victoria. Dogs too!!!!
Our dog (lab) pooku tore his knee and since he is 14 years old we were skeptical about surgery but we were referred to island orthotics and they have been nothing short of amazing!! Tim made us a custom brace much quicker than expected and before we knew it our dog was a powerhouse! He acts like a puppy with this thing, I would highly recommend island orthotics. Also it's been months since we got the brace and they have never made us seem like a bother when we call or come in with questions / adjustments. Tim is so passionate about what he does and clearly a dog lover too.

This place doesn't like First Nation people because they made it very clear when I was there last week. They prefer white folks only according to their treatment with me.
I find it difficult to talk with them because they said "We are professionals to the public."

A Google user wrote, 'You're in good hands'. That is exactly how I feel. I went to see Tim about a knee brace. He took lots of time, and ended up telling that, because I'd had a shot only days earlier, I should wait until it starts to wear off.
When the time comes, I'll be back to see him.

The brace is extremely well designed and made from the best quality materials and fittings.
