We have one of the most experienced teams of paediatric dentist specialists to take care of your kids in the York Region. Our team, including Dr. Neil Applebaum, Dr. Sumeet Bhalla, Dr. Emily Chen, and Dr. Michael Lin deliver gentle, patient-centered care to infants, children, tweens, and teens. We also care for some children with special needs.
Working with each child and their parents, our doctors determine the child's dental concerns, and then develop a customized treatment plan to remedy them. Our dentists are all on staff and have privileges at Markham Stouffville Hopsital.

To work with children is an absolute treat. Everyone here strives to make each visit comfortable and enjoyable for the kids. I do the same. It's important to connect with each child in a way that makes them feel safe, and encourages them to feel positive about caring for their dental health. Let's face it: historically, going to the dentist was often seen as a chore or unpleasant event, even for adults.
I consider myself truly lucky to be in a profession where I can make a lifelong impact on children's oral health from a very young age. It may take more patience, love, and tender care to build a trusting relationship with a dentist, but nothing is more rewarding to the patient, the family, and myself when we achieve a healthy smile together.
I really enjoy helping my patients learn not to be afraid of the dentist. I make sure to explain everything to my patients, showing them the different pieces of equipment and tools, explaining how they work, and why we use them. Creating familiarity is essential to helping anyone, especially young ones, feel more comfortable in a new situation.
I feel blessed to be able to use my training and expertise to help make children's smiles brighter and healthier. The most rewarding part of this profession is seeing the surprised smile on a child's face when they realize how easy their dental appointment was and how brave they could be! Compassion and communication are my keys to making our patients feel safe and understood in new situations.

Excellent service!! Dr. Lin is the best My daughter have surgery today and he did well with her teeth.

I was referred to FC Markham by a friend. I took my 3 year old for her first dentist visit today and she absolutely loved the experience. We got to choose a movie to play on the tv while she got teeth checked out. All the staff were super friendly. My little one can’t wait for her next visit in 6 months! Thank you for such a wonderful first visit!

I have been coming to this DFC since my son was 7, he is now 20 years old. Dr. Applebum and his Staff are amazing! They’ve always treated my children so well.
I had an emergency with my youngest recently, and without hesitation, they squeezed me in for an appointment the same day.
If anyone is looking for a Children’s Dentist in the Markham/Unionville, I highly recommend them.

Very friendly staff and doctors . They made my child feel very comfortable and made visit fun . They have a great DVD choices for kids to watch while they are being checked ( tv is attached on the ceiling ) . They have great receptionist that go above and beyond for their patients. Highly recommend dentistry for children both the Markham and Newmarket location are awesome .

From the time we walked into the Markham office until the time we left , we were treated amazing . The staff is patient and caring , and they let you feel that your whole visit . My daughter was in for GA and the whole time she was away from me , the staff was checking on me and ensuring me she was ok . I just booked an appointment here for my daughter for her first dentist visit. I haven't gone yet, but will update once I go!
But I just HAD to come on here and review the receptionist, Kim! She is just amazing! She talked to me for so long!! Making sure I knew what was going to happen. She booked enough time for my daughter to get checked and cleaned, but assured me that since it's her first visit, if she's anxious, they won't do the cleaning and they'll save it for next time. She talked me through the whole experience, even telling me her own experience with her grandchildren coming in for check

Dr.Chen is very professional and has a great upbeat attitude! My child was totally at ease with her. She took the time to explain everything in detail.
I love the philosophy of this office - I have been to other offices in the past where they were money hungry pushed for an aggressive treatment. I don’t feel any pressure here and really feel that they have my child’s best interest in mind. If you are looking for a dentist for your kids, I would not hesitate to give DFC Markham a try! Highly recommended!!!

Both my boys have been going to this dentist for a few years and they love it! Starting with Kim who works at the front desk, who is extremely pleasant, friendly and great with all the kids! Her smile and energy is the first thing you see when you walk through the door which is very important as a first impression walking into a business! She… helped them choose a movie they can watch during their procedures which they love to do! My boys see Dr. Bhala who is so good with making the kids feel comfortable all the time! All the hygienist seem to have kids and understand. I highly recommend

My son had dental surgery done in December and was terrified of the dentist! The staff there was amazing with him! He recently had his six month check up and he sat in the chair and let them clean his teeth without any fear! The staff at the Newmarket location is amazing and now my son does not fear going and he talks about wanting to keep coming… back. As a mother I was so worried that I would never get my child back in the chair but the caring and kind staff has turned that around and now he loves going! You all have restored my faith! Thank you!!!

Today we took our son Nishan for a dental procedure he needed to be done and had to be out to sleep. Dr Bhalla was amazing, extremely patient, knowledgable and thorough. The anesthesiologist was super. All of the nurses were such a pleasure to deal with. The entire staff goes above and beyond including the ladies at the front desk. Finally we have found a dental office we are staying with :)

I have twin 3 year old boys who HATE brushing!! I took them to see Dr. Bhalla who was amazing with them!! They sat through a full cleaning with NO Complaints! And they're actually brushing now on their own, and asking when we get to go back to the dentist! Thank you, Dr.Bhalla and the entire team, for making the experience so enjoyable for the kids!
