Atkins & Hoyle is a fourth generation family business, we've existed through over 90 years in business. We are known for manufacturing well engineered, attractive and exceptionally durable cast hatches and ports which can be found as original equipment on many boats. Our products have provided years of trouble-free offshore use.
Arriving from England to Canada in the early 1920s, Wilfred Atkins and Joseph Hoyle established a small foundry and machine shop in Toronto in 1921. Producing bronze and aluminum castings for the general market, Atkins and Hoyle Limited was instrumental in the development of infrastructure for the growing City of Toronto.

Dinghy Davits help boaters lift heavy objects out of the water. Typically mounted on land or in a vehicle such as a boat or truck, davits use a 'block and tackle' which allow humans to lift more weight with less effort. This concept of mechanical advantage has been around for centuries, line is routed through a series of pulley's (called blocks); threading the line through more pulley's reduces the effort required to lift the heavy object.

I had these hatches on my boat, they were 43 years old and they were made by Atkins & Hoyle. I had to replace the lenses in them because they were cracked. The service I got from them was stellar and the hatches are now as good as new! 43 year old hatches and they're better than the hatches I could buy new from another company. If you don't ever want to replace your hatches and you want ocean proven reliability, go with an Atkins &Hoyle hatch! They'll last you forever!

I had been searching for a crane for my sport fishing boat for several months, when I came upon Atkins and Hoyle. From the start, Eric and Brian were extremely helpful in selecting the right product for my application. They made suggestions to me, which I did not even think about previously. Needless to say, they made the process of selecting, ordering and final receipt of their products a breeze! Furthermore, the quality of this crane far exceeded my expectations. I have a Custom Bruckmann 44' sailboat built in 1990 with all AtkinsHoyle hatches. After 30 years they are bulletproof and although I'm just now replacing the gaskets they have worked flawlessly through all the years. I can't say enough about their quality and they have been a pleasure to work with as they are so knowledgeable about their products. The pride in 4 generations is obvious the minute they answer the phone.

I have an Endeavour 35 sailboat out of production for some time. Its a testament to the quality of the hatches installed in 1983! This year I replaced some of the support hardware. I could not be more pleased with the service received from Atkins & Hoyle. The website is easy to use but when I phoned them a real person answered! He was able to answer all my questions without putting me on hold or transferring my call to another department. My order was confirmed by email, was easy to track in shipment, and arrived on time! This was my first experience with Atkins & Hoyle but it will not be my last.

I have had three separate occasions to work with Atkins and Hoyle , whose ports, hatches and dinghy davits were on a boat i purchased.
Despite the fact that the equipment was 28 years old, not only were my needs handled like i was their best customer but in EVERY circumstance they were able to fully support the equipment with parts and technical support like the equipment was made yesterday!. In today's world that is rare....i cannot recommend this company higher !

All opening hatches and ports on my 1989 Nonsuch are made by Atkins and Hoyle. They have and continue to perform very well. Parts such as replacement screens and repair service ( if hatches are damaged) is excellent. The hatches and ports are of superior quality in every respect and I would not hesitate specifying them if I purchase a new boat.
