Its fascinating that I never got to experience the AGO, through all of my years of schooling, like it was something that was just not an option, even though efforts were made to come to other attractions in the area. years lost but making up for it, wow what a building to come and visit, I went out of my way to come here for an exhibit and it was one of the best exhibits I've been able to attend, nice little upsell is that the gallery sells a yearly membership for ten dollars more then the cost of the visit for the day (at the time of writing of course) two visits to the gallery and the membership

Oh AGO, where I first touched a henry moore and gazed at painted canadian landscapes by the group of seven. I still enjoy these permanent collections, and the exhibits do not disappoint. The last prepandemic exhibit I saw was Anthropocene, an indelible collections of images from around the planet showcasing the scale of human development and destruction.

Currently the main exhibit is Picasso's blue period. The exhibit stories his personal and professional influences as a young adult. The tickets are timed however it was pretty crowded inside on the weekend. At the entrance you can go on the

When I need a gift, I shop at the AGO. Items range from the whimsical to the elegant, artistic to the practical. All the staff are exceptionally approachable and helpful; Dylan, especially, has helped me more than once when I have been at a loss. If you are stressed about holiday shopping, the AGO shop is your salvation.

We visit a couple times a year and there's always different exhibits and events going on! The architecture itself is beautiful as are the pieces within - I like how almost every artwork has some background/context to read and interpret.

If you're looking to visit during covid times be sure to book a reservation ahead of time!

Beautiful museum & well worth a visit. While my boyfriend & I perused a few of the exhibits (the paintings by indigenous artists struck a particularly deep chord), we were there to see the Warhol exhibit & we were NOT disappointed. The exhibit, organized by Tate Modern, London, in collaboration with Museum Ludwig, Cologne, and the Art Gallery of Ontario, features loans from museums and private collections in Europe and North America & spans Warhols full 4 decade career. Amazing to get a close view of works I had only seen in books & television & to learn so much about the

AGO can be trusted to always present fascinating exhibits, and the building architecture - modified by Canadian Starchitect Frank Gehry - is worth seeing, especially the atrium room that connects the upper gallery spaces, where you can enjoy a cappuccino, the light, and the people watching. Members have the added treat of access tot he members restaurant at the back, which serves a spectacular brunch.

Karoo Ashevak died far too young. His sculptural output was not extensive but artists like him have made my appreciation of Inuit art very deep.

While some may see only simple funny or grotesque faces, I see repeated dives into the vast human psyche. Ashevak exemplifies the best of this cultural art form that employs the use of animal bone, sinew, and stone.

This small exhibition in a small dark gallery was the only reason for my visit. I remain discouraged that Inuit art at the AGO no longer has the pride of place that it did before the museum was overhauled. The work of Mr. Ashevak and

The Art Gallery of Ontario had been on my list of places to visit for several years, but when I noticed it was free for people aged 25 or under who signed up for an annual pass online, it jumped to the top of my list of things to do when I was next in the Great White North. I made my way up here on Black Friday after visiting my parents in Buffalo for Thanksgiving, going against the stream of Canadians making their way down to the US for Black Friday deals and afternoon hockey.

Upon arrival, I was informed that I needed a (free) timed ticket to see the special exhibition. Easy enough: stand in

It was the first time visiting AGO and it was a pleasant experience.
The admission fee was $25 per adult (over 25 years old), and they were promoting their yearly pass, which was $35? $40? a year.

They have three stories of exhibitions (including the small one in the basement floor) and cafes throughout the museum, which really helped!
The Gallery is a organized in a way that it's not easy to walk through each "section" or area. Unless you have a map, the exhibitions take a while to figure out since they don't flow from one to another.
The AGO cafe on the basement was pretty

I love this museum! It is absolutely beautiful! My friend and I came here on a Thursday and there was not many people inside. We were happy to know that if you are 25 years older or younger that you can enter the museum for free. Who doesn't like free? We had already read up about the infinity room so we made sure to go to the kiosk and reserve a slot. We had an hour until we could go to the infinity room so we explored the museum while we waited. The architecture inside is so creative. We walked through all the exhibits but my favorite was the African art and the Henry Moore exhibit. When

One of the highlights of my visit in Toronto. It is 3 blocks away from the Roger Center, very walkable distance.

Upon entering, remember to first reserve your appointment to see Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrors. The appointments are booked very quickly, and you really don't want to miss out on this experience.

I am going to spend a good paragraph just to describe the Infinity Mirrors. It is a 1 minute experience, yes, you heard it right. You are allowed to take as many photos as you like, but no photos would ever be able to capture the maze of reflections presented by the artist. Sometimes

My cousins and I had an afternoon to spend together and decided to check out the AGO. I haven't been since a field trip back in elementary school so I didn't know what to expect or have any expectations of what it should be like.

We went up the wooden spiral staircase and got some great views along the way. Even if you're not able to fully go from bottom to top I'd recommend at least a floor or two.

I'll admit that I'm not much of an art admirer so some collections and pieces go right over my head but I did enjoy the Group of Seven section as well as the ships on

Much of the gallery was closed this evening for a private event, so the $25 admission only allowed access to the "Impressionism in the Age of Industry" exhibit. It was a lovely exhibit with a superb collection of not only the AGO's art but art on lend from other museums. A nice collection of stuff and I enjoyed this exhibit thoroughly.

That said, if you're only going to open the Gallery in a limited way, how about a similar limited admission?

So I can't really evaluate the rest of the museum, but what was here was nicely spaced, beautifully laid out, many detailed captions

I had a wonderful time at the Art Gallery of Ontario. It was pretty packed for a Saturday, but staff made things pretty easy to purchasing tickets, and getting into the museum.

The highlight for me was the Mickalene Thomas exhibit. The staff highly recommended it, and I was not disappointed. The amount of attention to detail/ precision to create these type of pieces is mind blowing. It was also great to see such inspiring pieces make black women the focal point. The entire 5th floor was dedicated to this exhibit.

While exploring the building there were plenty of different types of art. There

I'm a huge fan of the AGO. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto is this neoclassical, contemporary yet historic building.

In the quaint neighbourhood near Kensington Market but close enough to downtown core, you'll find little boutiques, coffee shops, grocery stores, art installations and of course the AGO!

My favourite time to visit is Wednesday nights because after 6PM admission is free! However, free admission is not for the special exhibits (currently Anthropocene - November 2018 until January, formerly Yayoi Kusama). I would say the special exhibits are particularly striking

I bring my fiancé to art museums because I like to watch him get angry at modern art. But he's just uncultured. How can he not see that this giant black circle on white canvas totally represents humanity's fall into the abyss? Peasant.

Joking aside, modern art is a little silly. Modern art aside, the AGO is quite a nice art museum. There is a good mix of antique and contemporary artwork. Obviously, being in Ontario, there is a heavy lean towards Canadian artists like the Group of Seven. It's nice to see our great white land captured on canvas. AGO also houses some interesting

Huge, spacious gift shop with a wide variety of items such as books, art supplies, jewelry and more. There’s even a small pop up Greenhouse Juice inside.
Small thing was that it seems the cell phone service wasn’t great further into the store. I was browsing around waiting for a friend before realizing that my cell service completely dropped, and the AGO free wifi wasn’t staying connected.
