I'm Joanne Pineau, a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT). I've been teaching yoga since 1997 and run a small Yoga Therapy Studio in my home in Thornbury Ontario. Just a short note to say that I got a lot out of the sciatica course (online). I am putting into practice the postures and exercises to alleviate discomfort and strengthen muscles.

I use somatic movements and a therapeutic approach to classic yoga exercises in the Viniyoga Lineage that in part uses the weight of the body to create strength and is also a very effective form of neuro-muscular retraining that alleviates chronic pain and improves physical functioning, posture and mobility.
Services
The province of Ontario has mandated proof of vaccinations to gyms and yoga studios and that includes my studio and classes at St. Georges Parish Hall. I will therefore require upon entry to class proof of vaccination. I greatly appreciate your tolerance and acceptance of this mandate by the government.
I run group programs and specialty classes focused on a particular topic of concern at different times and locations throughout the year. Some of the programs include postural strength and body mechanics when sitting, walking, lifting and bending to reduce pain and restore functional movement. You can also take a program or series of classes online or in person 1-on-1.
There is no one fix for sciatica. For example in some people bending backwards relieves the pain, for others it makes the pain worse. Both require a different approach. There are often other issues at play as well like scoliosis, arthritis, SI joint or hip pain. How you use your body in daily activities, body mechanics and muscle tone are also contributing factors.

With Joanne's guidance using her yoga techniques daily, I have gained full use of my knee motion. I would highly recommend her classes. As a new student to yoga, I started taking Joanne's Gentle Yoga classes this year and have found them to be extremely beneficial.

Joanne' micro movement fitness is one of the best things I ever did for my body. It is a fantastic wellness program, for anyone that wants to repair deeply rooted muscle problems. As for Joanne - she is a very caring and attentive wellness instructor. Thanks Joanne for everything you have done for me and my aging body.

LOVE Joanne's restorative yoga class!!! I've been enjoying her gentle and very effective yoga classes for over a year now ... low back pain is gone ... I find walking and breathing easier and have way more energy ! THANK YOU Joanne !

As a new student to yoga, I started taking Joanne's Gentle Yoga classes this year and have found them to be extremely beneficial. They have helped me both mentally and physically. I would recommend them for anyone seeking a gentle start to learning yoga.
