Established in 1960, the Ottawa Gymnastics Centre is the oldest operating not-for-profit gymnastics organization in Canada. The club began in numerous high schools where equipment was packed away each night and boys and girls trained in different locations. The club moved into a more permanent facility in 1980 at 175 Richmond Road.
In 1988, the club moved again into the City Centre off Scott Street. Unfortunately, this facility was too small for the ever-expanding club so in 1992, the Ottawa Gymnastics Centre moved into its present facility at 294 Elmgrove Avenue, the former Lyons hockey arena. It is here that the OGC has been able to create a wide variety of programs and our membership has grown to over 3000 members, from 6 months old to adulthood.

Amazing! My daughter has some nights where she is sad but the Coaches make her feel better! (Sometimes not because it was her fault). She learned commitment She loved it and has been there of over 7 years! She loves, When Covid-19 is over she'll be Happy as ever to go back! They need to work on parking but I just drop her off and sometimes bring her in if she needs chalk or tape! I would rate it a.. 9.4! Just the parking, BUT They clean a lot and are very nice coaches! Thanks a lot OGC

Great center for kids of different ages. The center offers recreational and competitive programs. There are programs for adults too. I personally really like the programs for kids. Both of my children started with babynastics and than went for recreational, and they are very flexible without any special stretching or other efforts. I am not the biggest fan of infrastructure facilities (the bathrooms are not so taken care of, the changing rooms feel dated). There is not enough parking spots in front of the gym, so make sure to come 15 min earlier to your class, or you'll be late for the class while

Ottawa Gymnastics Centre claims as a non-profit business, but in fact it charges the fees no less than any other private gyms in Ottawa, and it runs like a bureaucratic institution. Because of the high demand for youth gymnastic program in Ottawa area, the parents of competitive athletes who want to support their children, have to either give more money to the gym or put up with many volunteer hours to keep their children in the program. For kids signed for recreation programs, when their classes are cancelled as result of autocratic decision by the administrator of the gym due to the bad weather

My daughter had her first class today. I should have visited this place first. Coming from another gym club, I mistakenly thought that this club would likely be fairly similar. Big mistake. This club is filthy dirty - and the stench! Simply disgusting. The equipment is old and falling apart. We won't return. Would rather forego the money we paid, then step another foot in that stink hole. Seriously, how does this place pass as a club?

My daughter attended OGC for 7 years. Our experience was up and down. Coaching is key. We had many coaches that were really old school and used negative reinforcement as a means of motivating. This went over badly and there were many nights of tears. There were also times when we had great coaches and my daughter was highly motivated. In a 4 hour session about half is conditioning, which my daughter found boring. Parking is an issue. They need a roundabout to improve flow. The facility is pretty good, always clean, equipment is good, viewing room is small and parents are told not to watch(one way

I took classes here and personally I did not like it at all. They only focused on strength and fitness and they wouldn't allow me to do walk overs, flips, or anything. You aren't allowed to do flips on the trampolines. I got placed in a class with people that were way younger than me, and they were all learning cartwheels and handstands meanwhile I was trying to get my back handspring. My father was paying money for my classes and that was 3 of my classes wasted with younger children. Finally they realized that it wasn't a good fit and moved me up to a higher level. They do strength tests and grade

Nice instructors, poor administration - we hadn't had this problem with other sessions but for the last one we signed up for about halfway though we got an email indicating a shortened session due to some other event OGC was hosting. That was all, no offer to refund the last lessons or apology or anything just a quick "FYI classes will end on this date not the original date"
