Dr. Carol Heusser is a Registered Psychologist with over 24 years of experience assessing and treating adult individuals and couples. Treatment of anxiety disorders has been a longstanding interest. Dr. Heusser also has expertise in the assessment and treatment of people dealing with illness, injury, disability and return to work concerns.
Our goal is to provide psychological services to meet your unique needs. We provide assessment and treatment services to adults, couples and children. Our approach is a collaborative one wherein we rely on your active participation. We listen carefully to your concerns and ask you questions to help you identify the areas you would like to work on.
All treatment begins with an initial assessment to identify problem areas and realistic treatment goals. Together we develop your treatment plan based on your unique needs. Most of the time, we meet with clients on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
Therapy works best when clients take an active role in the treatment, working with the psychologist to identify areas of challenge, understand the roots of the problem, and develop strategies that promote positive coping.Feedback is provided to family physician or other health care professionals as requested.

Adolescence is a period of significant growth and development of the body and mind. With this may come changes in a youth's ability to manage or cope with their emotions, relationships and educational expectations or demands. Psychologists can help explain the natural and normal changes that occur and also identify more concerning issues or problems using a variety of methods.
We are often asked by insurance companies, rehabilitation consultants, lawyers, and government agencies such as Veterans' Affairs Canada to assess and treat the psychological impact of stressful or traumatic events, illness and physical disability. Feedback to the client and a comprehensive report to the referral source are provided as appropriate.
