I wish I had known about The Summit earlier. Not only do they serve unbelievable food at affordable prices, but they’re one of the few places that have NOT raised them all for the tourist season. The location could NOT be better - you can walk in straight from Lower Water St. in the big office building with the ground level Map Store (you can’t miss it), then have your breakfast or lunch, then exit the opposite way you came in - and be RIGHT ON THE BOARDWALK.
It must also be mentioned that The Summit is the only place I’ve found so far to have a REAL Fisherman’s Platter ($12.95) - you

Summit Cafe is super inexpensive and probably a family owned business. The staff are super nice and caring, even after screaming in celebration after checking our exam scores.
We had the notable Fish'n'Chips. The fish didn't taste as fresh as it could have been especially since we are located on the East Coast so I had pretty high expectations for seafood. The fries weren't the best either, they lacked a special seasoning and only really tasted like fried frozen food. I also did not like the fact that they provided PACKAGED tar tar sauce for the fish. I strongly believe the

We had fish and chips with sodas. Portions were generous, the fish was really good, and the price was the best on the waterfront. I would have liked freshly made tartar sauce, but made do with Kraft from plastic cups. So, this is not fine dining, but it is quite a step up from many stalls along the boardwalk.

The Summit Cafe is on the ground floor of Summit Place on Lower Water Street in Halifax. This restaurant has actually been in existence for several years, so I was surprised to see there was no review on here.
There is enough seating for about 50 people and they do have a deck area overlooking Halifax Harbour; the only negative to this is that there tends to be a cool breeze from the water, so it might be best to take just a small plate of food to avoid the need for the staff to reheat it.
