Twice-daily brushings and regular flossing are excellent for maintenance between office visits, but a healthy mouth and beautiful smile require routine general and preventative care to stay that way. Our practice offers general care that includes regular oral examinations and cleanings.

A routine part of an oral examination should be inspection not only of the teeth and gums but also of the soft tissues in and around the mouth. Oral cancer starts in the cells of the mouth. Normally these cells are quite resistant to damage, but repeated injury from smoking, alcohol or even friction may cause sores or painful areas where cancer can start.
We use state-of-the-art digital X-ray(radiographs) system that enables us to take digital scan of the teeth to monitor for caries and other oral diseases not visible to the eye. How often dental X-rays should be taken depends on the patient's individual health needs. It is important to recognize that just as each patient is different from the next, so should the scheduling of Xray exams be individualized for each patient.
It is highly important that children or adults involved in sports wear a mouthguard. A high-quality, custom-made mouthguard is a small protective device that fits over your teeth and absorbs the force of an impact, helping to protect the mouth from damage. It is fabricated from a model of your teeth for a perfect fit.

Travel one hour to have my children kicked out of the building because I have a cold, even though my children have not been in physical contact with for about a week! We’ve always been treated with courtesy, respect and diligence. Occasional problems or dental emergencies were accommodated and treated in a timely fashion.
We’ve found the clinic to be very efficiently managed and wait times have been minimal. And, added bonus, concern for patient comfort seems part of the regimen in clean, pleasant surroundings.
I’d recommend Hartsland Dental to anyone in need of excellent dental care!

My First visit there was today. I am happy to say I can’t wait to go back again. The team that I met today were great and Dr Columbus was amazing. Very detailed exam. I felt cared for and Dr Columbus explained everything to me that she saw. We are working on a game plan fix/ explore previous work by a different place. I am excited. That’s right, excited. Don’t see that word associated with the Dentist but it is for me and Hartsland.
Just from the first visit I can tell that it is going to be the Dental Clinic for me.
Also they give you a sweet toothbrush. :)

I generally had a good experience with Hartsland Dental, but a billing issue caused me to leave their practice.
I was undercharged for an appointment, which I pointed out while still in the office. However, I was told at the desk that I was charged the correct amount. So I left.
An hour or two later, I received a blunt telephone message telling me to come back in by the end of the day to pay the difference (which I had pointed out in office). As it was not possible to return immediately, I came back in a few days later and payed the difference, and received no apology regarding the inconvenience
