Services
The Ear Company, originally Peterborough Audiology Inc., was established in 1993. Located in the offices of the old Westclock building in East City, Peterborough. With the growth of the practice a new office was built and moved to its current location, in 2007. The new location provides a vastly improved, modernized facility in the heart of Peterborough's shopping district.
Cerumen, or ear wax, can be removed from the ear canal so that it does not interfere with listening or comfort, especially for individuals who wear hearing aids. Scheduled and performed by our licensed and nationally certified Hearing Healthcare Professional are subject to professional fees. Insurance often covers these services.
Sanjeev Sukumaran is both the owner and primary audiologist at The Ear Company. He has been serving Peterborough and the surrounding area for over 21 years. Sanj and his wife Reema are parents to 6 boys and are active members of the Peterborough community. Sanjeev completed his undergraduate education at Andrews University in Communicative Disorders.
If you or your child has been referred for a diagnostic audiologic evaluation, it means that hearing loss needs to be ruled out or further examined. The diagnostic audiologic evaluation may be indicated for individuals who did not pass an initial hearing screening. The evaluation is done to determine if a hearing loss is present, and if so, to detail the type and severity of the hearing loss.
Auditory processing is the term used to describe how your brain recognizes and interprets sounds. It is when this process is somehow disrupted that a disorder is present. Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) affects the brain's ability to process or interpret auditory information correctly.
After other issues, such as hearing loss or behavioral disorders, have been ruled out, an auditory processing evaluation can be done to determine if a person has an auditory processing disorder.This comprehensive testing is used to evaluate if the brain is having difficulty processing auditory signals.

This is an amazing place to go if you have ear issues. The staff is very professional and friendly. I sent my partner here to get his hearing checked and they made him feel so comfortable they also worked with him to get his hearing aids covered by wsib. They also will flush your ears and many other of your ear needs.

Brought my 4 year old for his first visit. Arrived on time and didn’t wait long to see Sanj. His trust building and expertise with kids is evident. He had my son comfortable and actively engaged in the whole process while still delivering information to us while conducting the tests. Would highly recommend.

I came in for a consult, and the experience from phone reception to Dr. Sanjeev himself was absolutely wonderful. Dr. Sanjeev's caring and consoling demeanor inspires confidence and relief in his patients. I also did not expect the complimentary treatment and audio test on my first visit, for which I am very grateful. 5 stars and highly recommended.

We visited The Ear Company for our three year old daughter related to speech therapy after a coworker recommended their excellent services. She was right, the service is incredible. A clean, refreshing environment that is also child friendly with toys to occupy them while they wait plus snacks and refreshments were offered as well. Very friendly staff right when you walk in the front door and the doctor was so amazing with our daughter. He truly knows how to connect with children making it a smooth process. It is evident that he is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he does, truly caring
