Based on the old Chinese philosophy and value of "humble and honest for three generations", SUNZEN's goal is to create a permanent community focussed on the promotion and growth of traditional Chinese art.
It is said that tea we know today was first discovered almost 3000 years ago by the Chinese ancestor Shennon. The legend of discovery tells us that he preferred drinking boiled to ensure it wouldn't make him ill, and while on a trip to a distant region, a dead leaf from a wild tea bush fell into his boiling drinking water, Shennon drank it and found it very refreshing, and so cha (tea) came into being.
The history of earthenware in China can be traced from as early as the Palaeolithic era, and are today regarded as one of the most significant forms of Chinese art. As they developed over their long history from basic pottery to stoneware and finally the fine ceramics we see today, the artform has become so highly regarded around the world the 'porcelain' used in its manufacture is still referred to as "china" as a common descriptor.
The various forms of Chinese furniture we see today date back to approximately 1000 BC, and their construction is most commonly based on frame and panel, yoke and rack, and often various forms of bamboo construction. Evolving independently from western styles and forms, typical furniture for the home developed along very similar functions and forms including tables, stools, chairs, cupboards, cabinets and beds.
