Welcome to the ORIGINAL McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program, sponsored by the McMaster University Department of Anesthesia, and co-founded in 1998 by Dr. Angelica Fargas-Babjak and Dr. Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco.

The Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program founders created this medical acupuncture training course on neurofunctional acupuncture and electroacupuncture as the first comprehensive medical acupuncture training course for health care professionals offered by a Medical University in Ontario, Canada.

The McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program is a University-based continuing education program designed for qualified health professionals interested in integrating Contemporary Medical Acupuncture (Neurofunctional Acupuncture, Electroacupuncture) into their practices.

Our mission is to train selected health care professionals in the use of Contemporary Medical Acupuncture (Neurofunctional Acupuncture, Electroacupuncture) for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and movement disorders, sports injuries, functional problems, problems of dysregulation, headaches, stress-related disorders, chronic pain, etc., through high quality, accelerated Continuing Education programs.
The McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program no longer provide CME credits for Canadian physicians as these can now be claimed individually by Canadian Medical Doctors completing the Program. The same applies to Medical Doctors from other jurisdictions in the USA and the rest of the world.
The McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program for Health Professionals is a University accredited academic activity for regulated health professionals.

The ability of those professionals to practice acupuncture in a given "professional practice jurisdiction" upon completion of the McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program depends on the practitioner's compliance with their regulatory body requirements, which may include the completion of such a training program as the McMaster Program.
