After settling down in Ottawa I worked for a couple of local stone mason's and Public Works for a good couple of years. It was a great experience working with Public Works as it allowed me to work on some well-known landmarks in Ottawa. After my contract ended at Public Works I decided with the help of my old boss to start my own company.
I started out taking on some sub-contract work from a good friend who I'd previously worked for as a stonemason. Needless to say, it wasn't long before my company name started to get around via word of mouth. Flagstone patios and walkways are one of our specialities at Smith's Stone Masonry. And over the years, we've installed many different patios in all shapes and sizes around Ottawa. Our installation style and technique is somewhat unique to many other companies who install flagstone. We prefer to keep the joints (gaps between flagstone pieces) as tight as possible, normally around half an inch.

Since 2001, Smith's Stone Masonry has been installing and repairing flagstone entrances and walkways all around Ottawa. Craig built us a custom stone fireplace on our deck in the backyard. It is beautiful! Craig worked tirelessly, cleaned up everything when he was done and even returned after the firepit had settled to pressure wash it. Craig is also easy to communicate with and returns your calls quickly. I fully recommend Smith's Stone Masonry. Thank you Craig!
