In 1978, there were three emerging criminal defence lawyers who were eager to help those in need find relief from unfair charges and accusations. Together, they formed one of Calgary's most championed criminal defence firms, handling high profile cases for almost 40 years. Law firms come and go, but the dedication that came with creating the firm - then known as Evans Bascom - helped it remain a viable legal defence option, through ups and downs.
Our attorneys have successfully defended a wide range of criminal cases, such as impaired driving, drug possession and trafficking, sexual assault, serious personal injury and others. We've worked with clients in a number of courtrooms, including successful defence cases that have appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada.
Mr. Dunn a graduate of the University of Alberta started his legal career practicing insolvency litigation with Fraser Milner Casgrain (now Dentons), a national law firm, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. However, Mr. Dunn's true passion resided in criminal law and in 2001 he joined one of Calgary's oldest and most prestigious criminal defence law firms known at that time as Bascom & Fagan.
Mr. Deshaye is a partner with the law firm of Dunn & Associates. He graduated with a degree in Justice Studies from Mount Royal College in 2006 and secured his degree in Law (LL.B) from the University of Manitoba in 2010 where he earned a number of coveted academic distinctions. Mr. Deshaye is a partner with the law firm of Dunn & Associates and has been with the firm since 2010.
Mr. Dahlem is an associate at Dunn & Associates. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours from the University of Ottawa, and received his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan. While in Ottawa, Mr. Dahlem worked for two years as a Page in the Senate of Canada.
He was also heavily involved with intercollegiate debate, serving in various executive positions with the English Debating Society at the University of Ottawa, as well as serving as the chairman of organizing committee of the Canadian University Society for Intercollegiate Debate National Championships in 1996.He also worked for the United Nations Associations on the 50th anniversary celebrations of the United Nations.

Greg Dunn lives up to his reputation as one of the best criminal lawyers in Calgary. I was facing several serious criminal charges based on false allegations. It was a long process, but Greg and his assistant kept me well-informed of the proceedings and answered all my questions patiently. I was facing a term of imprisonment, but Greg was able to successfully present my defense and had all criminal charges dropped a day before the trial. I could not have hoped for a better result. Highly recommend Greg and his office for any criminal charges you need help with!

I did alot of research before chosing a lawyer to defend me on my DUI charge. Greg and Dina were both professional and put me at ease from the time I walked into their doors. The percentage of us winning this case was very low but Greg did everything in his power working on my behalf. After a long process I was found not guilty on all charges. I contacted Dunn and Associates a few months ago for support with a legal matter. The secretary that took my call was kind, personable, and very easy to talk to. I immediately knew that I wanted to work with this firm. It was late Friday afternoon and she told me that Vincent Semenuk would return my phone call when he was available. Vincent called me back from his cell phone at about 5:30pm, I thought clearly he was a dedicated lawyer because I wasn't expecting a call until Monday. I recieved a DUI on September 14th 2019. I was completely lost and had no idea where to even start. I had never been in trouble with the law and this was the most stressful situation I've ever been in. After doing some research and getting legal advice from a few lawyers in Calgary it was clear from the start Greg Dunn was different from the rest. He assured me that even though I didn't have to many defenses in my case since I had refused the breathalyzer that he had a strong chance with my case. And what do you know? Cant say enough about Dunn and Associates. I was charged with a DUI in in eastern rural Alberta, retained Greg Dunn as my lawyer and just found out the charges were withdrawn with a couple weeks left to go before the trial date. I haven't had to walk into court this entire process as everything was handled on their end, including representation at plea. Greg and his team were honest and confident from the very beginning. The administrative assistant Dina was always very helpful, prompt and detailed in her explanation of everything. Worth every penny.
