At Wood's Homes, we have a long list of things to be grateful for, but the joy of working with children, youth and families and the support we receive from our loyal and generous community tops our list. In this time of gratitude, we give thanks to you for your continued participation, engagement and support.
These challenging times have shown us the importance of truly coming together in gratitude and appreciation of one another. Wood's Homes is grateful to our community for the incredible support we've received for our Youth Culinary Arts Program Market! The YCAP Market features food and products made by clients who are learning to cook and prepare homemade quality meals under the guidance of Red Seal chefs.

Services
Wood's Homes is a children's mental health centre. We provide treatment and support to children, youth and families with mental health needs. Founded as an orphanage by Reverend George Wood in 1914, we are a place of caring and trust. A place you can turn to for help when you don't know what else to do, or when you have nowhere else to turn.
Wood's Christian Home was founded in Innisfail, Alberta, by Reverend George Wood, a Scot and minister who moved to Canada with his wife Elizabeth in 1907. They settled in Saskatchewan. In 1914, tragedy struck when his wife lit a lamp in their home with what she thought was kerosene. She had been sold gasoline by mistake.
We understand and appreciate that every child or adolescent and his/her family has unique needs when it comes to treating mental health issues. Keeping families together is a priority for Wood's Homes - we take a family-centred approach in each of our 40+ programs. Our services are divided into six pillars - each one with several different programs and services.

As a former resident of WOODS HOMES in both the stabilization program and the Family Focus Programs in the early 1990's i can say that Woods Homes offered me a safe place to go when I was not safe at home and provided an alternative to the receiving and assessment centre where I was placed after I was released from the Calgary Youth Offender center. Most memorable were the hard working and underpaid staff at the home and the school. I received an art award at Woods
which laid the foundation for my current career as a sculptor and painter. After completing the program at Woods I

If you are considering putting your children in Woods Homes - DON'T!!! Their "program" is just a fancy name for "child institution". Employees have numerous job titles, but in actual fact they're just glorified social workers who are information gatherers for Child and Family Services. If you're a father, you will NOT have any parental rights here. And they will use their power to go against your court order to favour the mothers needs at all cost. They pride themselves on being a non profit organization, but somehow manage to employ 550 employees.
