As an Early Childhood Educator, starting my career in 1984, my philosophy has always been 'learning through play'. The programs offered at ECCC reflect my philosophy. Elmwood Child Care Centre (ECCC) began as a small centre on Elmwood Drive for (10) children in 1996. Today, there are three locations with programs that offer childcare for families with children age 3 months -5 years.

Services
Fees will be paid for those days that were agreed upon during registration. To prevent monetary loss to the centre, space cannot be held without payment for absent days, illness, storm days or vacation days. If fees are not paid on time, the Executive Director will be obligated to ask you to remove your child from the program.
Our educator's implement Capable, Confident, and Curious: Nova Scotia's Early Learning Curriculum Framework. The framework is based on the concept of the Image of the Child which says that everyone's personal Image of the Child is influenced by their own experiences, biases, and knowledge. This framework's Image of the Child sees children as curious, creative, full of potential, capable, and confident.
There is a Toddler program offered on the main level of our Elmsdale location. There are 12 toddlers and 2 ECE's. Our support staff in based out of the toddler program. Cost is $38.25 per day. Priority is given to full time, with minimal part time spaces available for 3 days a week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday /Thursday).
I just need you to know how impressed we are with you (Director),y our staff and centre. You help make a somewhat traumatic experience (going to preschool for the first time) such a positive experience. Our son will truly miss Preschool but we are lucky to be back in a few years with our next child!
