David Lakie was called to the Bar in 1989 and has been a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada since then. He has practiced law in Ontario since his call to the Bar and he is very familiar with the Criminal Court System. He is also a member of the Criminal Lawyers Association. It is a supreme document in the sense that all authority given to the government must be exercised in accordance with the principles and protections afforded to persons charged with an offence, by the Charter.
Should I talk to the Police? In the vast majority of cases, I advise clients who are under police investigation of their Right to Remain Silent. I suggest that you do not speak to the police without counsel being present. There is a perception that if you do not answer questions put by an investigating officer, you will appear to be guilty.

This lawyer was very unprofessional..told my son to consent to a detention order..did't even try for bail..said it wasn't a possibility...wanted him to plead guilty quickly with out even having full disclosure...thank God my son fired him and got another lawyer and was released on bail !!!
