Established in 1985, The Nepean School of Music offers music lessons for students of all ages and skill levels. With over 600 students, a dozen programs and teachers with knowledge in almost every instrument, we can offer every style of lessons from jazz, classical and pop to suit your needs. If a structured classical approach is your goal, our teachers are trained to teach in all levels of the Royal Conservatory of Music and Conservatory Canada.

Piano is known as the gateway to all music. This instrument has a wide range of pitches (88 in total), it produces very loud to soft sounds. It is beautiful as a solo instrument or can accompany another instrument. Most songs we hear with a melody and chord progression can be adapted to be played on the piano.

Drums are the perfect instrument for body and brain exercise, for those with a lot of energy or who want todevelop their fine motor skills. Drums offer a wide range of skills such as multitasking and keeping a beat. Backed by years of studio, stage and classroom experience, our drum teachers offer a wide range of styles including Funk, Rock, Latin, Jazz, R&B.

Imagine selling your music school to this school and then working for them, getting paid half what they charge for lessons. This is what their main teacher is all about, slowly paying them back for buying you out lol.
They also harass clients with their mask policies with threats that rival 1945 regimes. Take your business to Barrhaven Music Academy, we did.

As a child, I took both guitar and voice lessons at Nepean School of Music and was excited to bring my own child there to start piano lessons in recent years. The teachers are passionate about music and this is passed on directly to their students. The level of professionalism and kindness from this business is exceptional. I would highly recommend them anyone looking for music lessons (and already have!) It's also amazing to see how many students from my generation have gone on to careers in music - this is a direct reflection of the quality of instruction at NSM.

I enrolled my son in piano lessons at Hummingbird Music, and it was a fantastic experience for him. He had already begun lessons at school but wanted to take it up a notch and learn with a professional. Even after just a short month of lessons, I could hear how much more fine-tuned his playing was and how his confidence in himself had sky-rocketed. Tammy Raybould was his teacher, and I would highly recommend her. She is patient, professional, and very talented!

Teacher-student relationship is very important; I would not, for example, teach Jazz methods and pop classics, but I do have over 25 years of experience in the classical music and Royal Conservatory approach.

I have taken guitar, piano and vocal lessons here and all were great experiences for me. The teachers are all professional, knowledge and friendly. The teachers came up with fun and creative ways to help me learn to read music better, which I thought was really awesome and made it way more fun especially when I was younger and did not fully appreciate the skill of reading music yet! I love that there is always lots of opportunities to perform and the teachers helped me learn to be a better performer as well as a better musician. All of the staff, not just my own teachers, are always very supportive

As someone who has been playing music professionally for 20 years and has been involved with the Hummingbird school of music in many different capacities including developing close friendships, I would like to say that any student of this school is TRULY in good hands at The Hummingbird School Of Music. The wealth of experience and strong family/community fabric of this place is really exemplary and as a father of 4 kids, I would put any of them in the capable hands of this school's staff and its ownership and would recommend them to anyone without question.

I have been to this school many times over the years with my own children and have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff, the owners and in the curriculum. This music school far exceeds any other school in Eastern Ontario and it should be no surprise to anyone that it has been in business for over 40 years. Highly recommend it.

My family and I highly recommend the Nepean School of Music! My son is taking drumming lessons, my spouse is taking guitar lessons, and my daughter and I are both taking singing lessons. We feel right at home here. The office staff are very friendly, professional and accommodating. The instructors are absolutely fabulous - they're knowledgeable and skilled in the art, and they have helped all of us to progress and further our skills in our respective areas.
