Services
Hello my name is Nathan Manning. Our family started into the meats business because of me. Like many Canadians of my generation, I believed in the importance of environmental sustainability, and also valued the social benefits of agriculture, such as egalitarianism and the contribution of rural and small-town perspectives to society.
And we're also committed to giving HONEST, FRIENDLY SERVICE to our wonderful customers at our retail store, Tango's Meats Vancouver (Denman). We pride ourselves in INFORMING our buyers, allowing them to make healthy and nutritious choices. Providing healthy food with caring attention to peoples' needs is what motivates us.
That is you may be eating beef, but what did the steer eat, and with grass-fed ranching practises, you need to ask "what was the GRASS EATING?" Was the soil fertilized with artificial chemicals? Were pesticides or herbicides, basically poisons, sprayed on the grasses? All these inputs are then consumed by an animal eating the grass.
Nowadays, we dwell in an online world where we get everything at our disposal. We can buy meat online from our local butcher shop. With this convenience, it is unfortunate that one may lose quality. It is, therefore, crucial to have a great local butcher where you can get your meat products. Most probably, you opt for buying organic meat just like us.
Tango's Meats Vancouver has been THE premier butcher shop on Denman St. in the West End for almost 20 years! In 2016 it was purchased by Top of the Mountain Foods and SP Cattle Co. as their ranch-direct location in Vancouver for 100% grassfed & grass-finished Galloway Beef. Today, with their in-house butcher and many in-house-made products, it has become the favorite location for healthy, clean meats, deli, dairy and bakery.

If you are a fan of a REALLY GOOD dill pickle, Tango's on Denman St is the place to assuage that craving. The brine is my potato salad secret ingredient (well...it was secret). You simply won't find a better dill pickle downtown. The staff is very helpful with dinner suggestions and are just plain nice people! Keep up the good work...5 stars for sure!

I haven't been here yet but I'm hoping to come soon! I just enjoy the business owners responses to the reviews. I appreciate the owners responses to the slightly less positive reviews are about accountability and making the effort to grow and make things right. Even though we know some customers are impossible to please and can always find something wrong!

The staff are great and the service has always been excellent. The cuts are inconsistent; I've purchased striploins that have been cut on an angle, so that one end of the steak is 3cm-4cm thick and the other end is but a sliver. Their steaks have too much water (blood, plasma, etc) and this results in a tougher product once cooked.
Seems like they just need hang the meat a bit and improve their butchering.
Grass fed is the way to go, so I hope this farm-to-butcher op goes all the way and starts consistently delivering a great product.

I just bought two rib eye steaks, cooked them medium rare and they were as hard as shoe soles quite dissatisfying. I’ve been a customer for decades lol, through owner changes, and always with good products and not particularly cheap, but it’s local and I like that. However these steaks really made me mad it was my beef day and it’s all ruined.

Best meat products in town! OMG all their products taste soooo much better than anywhere else!
I've been "keto" or carnivore for many years now and eat grass-fed organic meat almost everyday, so quality is very important to me.
They have the best ribeyes, lamb chops, etc!!! Also this amazing grass fed ground beef with a small amount of heart & liver called Vitality Mix 🥩🍗🥓🍔
Go #teamtango!!! The staff put a smile on my face every time. I haven't met nicer people in places I shop. Very kind and engaging!! They also prepare everything the way I ask with a smile. I can't express enough

Quality products but really crappy service - I went in for a chicken yesterday but they refused to cut it up. The guy behind the counter said he would cut it in half, but not into eight pieces. (I left & went to Whole Foods, where the butcher is happy to butcher your meat any way you like.)
Once I asked for two 8oz. filets, got home and noticed the two together were less than 6oz. Same guy behind the counter - I think he was too lazy to bother cutting new steaks the size I requested and just gave me what was already cut.
It's a shame because everything I've bought there has been

Excellent service and premium quality beef! They also have some very nice grass fed byproducts like butter and beef tallow. While the prices aren’t cheap, they are worth the product you are receiving and also knowing you’re supporting a local business and farmers. The cured meat seems to mostly be bought, which was disappointing. I used to love buying freshly smoked pepperoni from my butcher back home. The high prices also contributed to the 4/5 stars.

Today February 7 2016 I yet again attempted to give this this so called business yet another chance. Yet again when I asked for a certain kind of meat this time flank steak. I was abruptly told if it isn't in the display we haven't got it . Why do you call you self gourmet meats when you don't have basic meats like ribs Veal chops T bones Now flank steaks. and every time the customer asks they are told those are speciality cuts of meat and we need to order them in.
Sound like a load of BS form a poorly operated Butcher Shop.
I was yet again met by a very hostile and belligerent

The meat here is great as is most of their other produce. Thing is though, that I find the staff seriously unfriendly and that is kind of a turn-off. If I go to a place once or twice a week for over a year then I don't think it's too much of me to expect a friendly 'Hi there'..instead of a blank look as if they have never seen me before..it is called customer service! Maybe it isn't a nice place to work and I find that kind of a turn-off too.

I love this place! Great quality, great service, great price! Hands down my #1 go to when I need dinner quick! The free range rotisserie chicken goes quick, so call ahead and reserve one; it's delicious! If you can't, don't worry they have all sorts of wonderful other goodies to choose from! These guys have saved this busy mom on more than one occasion!

I found this place after a morning soccer lesson for my baby (he's 2 but he's my babe).
We happened to park right in front and I have read the reviews of this place but missed it every time I walked by.
It is a little shop and for some reason on this early morning, I noticed the sign. I headed in with my husband and my baby in tow. I wasn't looking for anything specific but wanted to give it a quick look after reading all the good reviews.
They had variety of cheese, meat and deli meat. They also have choices of sauces and condiments as well. I bought myself a white wine vinegar

I love this place! We went here to find a free range, hormone free turkey for American thanksgiving. They were all too big for us, so the owner sold us 2 chickens instead (they were very reasonably priced for free-range!). He was very friendly and chatty. He also remembered us when we came in again, and actually asked how the birds had turned out!
They also have free range eggs and and a bunch of other meaty stuff there for much cheaper than Whole foods. I just bought some ostrich burgers there too, pretty excited to see how they turn out. I wanted to sample the kangaroo too (they&apos

I like my meat two ways and two ways only: (1) fresh (read: local), and (2) organic. Bonus points if it's affordable. Enter Tango's: a slightly unassuming little mom n' pop meat shop in the west end. High quality cuts of viande sold by nice people who genuinely seem to care for their job *and* for what they do means that I am a happy customer when I leave the store. It also means that I'd much rather lay down the scrilla here than wander a few blocks up to Capers (now known as Whole Foods, which I flat-out refuse to call it for fear of it stopping me from ever stepping foot

What's not to Love about this little Gourmet Meat Market?
The selection is vast and most Grill items are already marinated.
Prices seem really fair considering Whole Foods (Caper's or Whole Paycheck) around the corner.
We purchased several items to BBQ tonight at our friends Lanai (Patio) and are excited to try some of the delicacies after they're cooked.

I have never noticed this little butcher right across from the library.
A pretty good selection of all things meat. Deli, prepared dishes, eggs...
The friendly staff didn't hesitate to answer my question about quail eggs and recommend another store to find them at.
I shall return the next time I am in need of something for the BBQ.
