In Ferno's Bistro
It starts with Fern Kirouac Sr., a classically trained French chef who owned and inspired the cherished Winnipeg restaurants, Red Lantern on Hamel Avenue and La Vieille Gare on Des Meurons Road in the 70's and 80's.

Fern Sr. sadly left us in 1990, but would later see his son, Fern Kirouac Jr. and grandsons, Chris and Zack pick up where their father and grandfather left off to bring back to Winnipegers and visitors the same authentic and unforgettable culinary experience that the family was known for a few decades earlier. It is considered Winnipeg's Premier Bistro by the team and its customers.

I just wanted to say thank you for such a great dining experience at your restaurant last night. We had friends in from Nebraska and thought we would go to a place we have always enjoyed. Last night did not disappoint. Our guests were still talking about it this morning. Good luck elbowing your way into the small French eatery that day, but by all means, keep InFerno's in mind for your own December celebrations.
There are three areas available for parking while visiting InFerno's Bistro. Parking is also available on the side streets surrounding the Bistro. In the event that you choose to park on a side street please be aware of the parking guidelines that may or may not be in effect for a given location. We hope you enjoy your visit to our establishment.

Excellent food. Service was very good. Ambience is more of a low key family style as opposed to fancy, dressy date place.
Nice variety of mains and specials. Was out of a few things the night I went. Moule and frites are very good. Calamari was done nicely, not oily, and lightly battered. Lamb shank was done perfectly although the sauce was a bit sweet for my personal taste.
Desserts were both very good. They had a bout 8 to choose from and they all looked amazing. The creme brûlée had the perfect amount of carmalized sugar. Crispy and not overly thick.

Visiting family in Winnipeg and came here for supper. The food was excellent, and the service was very good. A popular restaurant that was full. There were no delays in taking our order or bringing the food. Had a main and shared dessert. An enjoyable experience.

Each time we eat here, the french oignon soup is a must. It's truly the best we've had!
Wine and beer selection is excellent. Service is prompt and I appreciate being served in French without having to ask! A top choice on our date night list.

Wasps. Need i say more? My party tried to use the beautiful patio, but the wasps were terrible. Our server was so accommodating in bringing us inside and making sure we had all our orders fresh and correct. We we seated next to a large window, so we felt like we were outside. The food was really good. Perfect portions and beautifully presented. Definitely recommend.

Had a reservation and were seated right away. Drink order took about 5-10 minutes to place, the patio was busier but not full of people. Our server was prompt and polite.
The food from the appetizer to the entrees was excellent. Drinks as well. This was our second time at Inferno's and we'll be back.

We started with the steak tartare with the traditional egg yolk on top which was very well done (and raw). The tartar itself was not seasoned at all, but they put many seasonings on the plate. The dish was served with small oblong toasts, salt ground black pepper diced onions anchovies capers and a mustard with balsamic sauce smeared on the plate. It was delicious.

Regret.
My wife and I finally decided to eat out after months of pandemic oppression. The dependable, go to dishes were bland. But the saddest part was the service, I was looking forward to patronizing a Winnipeg institution and from the moment we sat down the waitress was cold and uncaring. I take my parter out to be pampered a little, not made to feel like we are an inconvenience to the staff. The salmon ceviche was excellent but I won't be returning.

Sitting on that patio was just a perfect set up for the evening, the food was great starting from the appetizer to the main course, and the desserts too. Ordered the Duck Confit and enjoyed it very much. The grilled salmon salad was also quite a hit! Definitely going back for more!

This place is not what it used to be. Went for lunch and ordered the lunch chicken crepe with soup. The soup was supposed to be broth based vegetables and chick peas. It arrived lukewarm; full of chick peas with one minuscule piece of carrot. The crepe was burnt and dried out on top and completely soggy on the bottom. Not very tasty. I sent it back and got the lunch salad instead. It was mediocre at best. Got my bill and was charged 3$ more for the change. Good service would equate minimally, the same price. Excellent service would be to take it off my bill totally.

Won't be going back

I was with a group of eight this evening. The staff were outstanding in serving us without rushing. The wine selection was just right. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

A special shoutout to Janelle, our main server, but I don't want to ignore the folks who kept the water and bread coming.

When you go, weather permitting, be on the patio. It was a beautiful setting.

To celebrate mom's birthday, a group of us went to Inferno's Bistro on Des Meurons for lunch a couple of weeks ago.

I hadn't been there for a while so I was excited. I've tried their crab cakes and several different flavours of Moules Et Frites in the past and found them satisfying and delicious.

Here with friends. We looked at eating outside but the person who met us at the door suggested the service upstairs was very good the service was excellent and provided by the same person. Carlie.

All of the food was wonderful.

Everyone enjoyed their meal very much. I think listing is not needed because it changes often and contains local items as in season.

Tonight was my first time dining at infernos on des meurons and unfortunately I will not be coming back. The service was very disappointing from the beginning just trying to get seated. Our server did not seem happy to be there and let off a very negative vibe. It was difficult to get her attention as well. The basket of bread that was brought to the table was cold and stale. The bread had some traces of sauce on it so it must have been on a previous customer's plate and then passed on to our table. The meal was sub-par. I had the fettuccini with salmon. For $20 you would think it is a fresh

We were visiting our daughter and son in law in Winnipeg and asked them to choose a restaurant for dinner. Wow! What great choice! Four different selections, each one outstanding. Rebecca, our server did a great job of looking after us and we left saying that we will definitely return again. Hint-- make e reservation. The place fills up fast. That alone should tell you something.

Should be 3 1/2 stars. Not quite a four star place. Had onion soup that was fair and clam chowder was not great. Had the medallions of lamb with mushrooms. It was good. Service was very good. Atmosphere was good.

My last visit would have gotten a 5 stars. The salad special I had was a perfect balance. All the food at our table was well received. Service was very good. The food generally is very good here. The desserts fantastic. My issue is service can be hit or miss. Many have lamented about absent service and long wait times. Still, you cannot deny they have wonderful offerings. Definitely a foodie spot.

We came in on a Saturday Eve and was a little chilly on the patio. Inside we had lobster potstickers and a Salade au Boeuf Thai. Topped it off with some Lemon Hazelnut Torte. TO DIE FOR! We'll be back! Best server with a wealth of knowledge of the menu

It's not in a "hot spot" of Winnipeg, so stick to the Exchange Dist or Osbourne Village if that's what you're after.

I sat outside, was lovely. Service was excellent. Food was good, but not mind-blowing. However, if I lived in this neighborhood I'd be thrilled to have it!

They specialize in deserts which would be fab to share.

Was a Gem now a Cubic Zirc.. Good is so inconsistent now. My wife and I have had subpar meals many times in a row.

Chicken overcooked, burnt, dry. Infernos is just not what it was originally.

If you hit it on the right night you will hand a good meal.
