The room was decent, the service was AWFUL! My friend and I checked in one evening with my 3 month old baby. I went outside to grab my last bag and the door was locked and had my room key, I could see the security guy standing right there. So I just rang the bell, and all he had to do was walk a few steps to open the door for me. When he opened the door I showed him my key and was like ‘sorry I wasn’t sure how to work it but I have my key’ then he just snapped at me and said ‘ya it’s all in writing there for you to read’ responding in an awful tone. All I was thinking was ‘wow this

Rooms are ok, definitely an aged and historic hotel but the amount of homeless people begging for money on the street out font, the "aromatic inconsistencies" in the hallways and the drunken a-holes in the streets basically means I would look elsewhere for a hotel on my next stay. Not to mention they claim to have a bar and restaurant here and its only open from 8:30AM TO 1:30PM, so not a bar at all.

Character Building. Clean Room. Comfortable Beds. Helpful, professional staff. Excellent security. By far the quietest stay I’ve had in Thunder Bay in years. Nice view. Kids had fun at the pool and I did not have to worry about my vehicle.
Best Value for your money in the city. Our family will be visiting again.

Not having used a hot tub for a couple of years, we splurged on a jacuzzi room and were pleased with the jacuzzi tub, although not all of the jets seemed to be working perfectly. The bed was comfortable, and the view of the room over the waterfront and across the water to the Sleeping Giant was terrific.
The hotel as a whole was a little dated and worn-looking. This kind of thing works fine for us, but if you want everything to look fresh and newly-renovated, it might not be for you.
Service was not so great. The staff we dealt with were polite but not helpful. We found the sink partly clogged

I find many of the negative comments incorrect and nearly missed out on this cool old hotel. It's historic and cool. Staff were very friendly and concerns of homeless needless. Yes they are around the neighborhood but never bothered me at all beyond asking for change. Hotel has security at the doors and watching parking lot which is better than most hotels. I was on 5th floor lake view and the view was spectacular and the walkway to park and marina are right there. Room is older but was just fine and I slept well. Noise levels a little high between rooms but not terrible. I'm glad I stayed there

Room smelled, shabby air conditioner unit in the window(kind of unit might find in small home) not suitable for a "hotel", felt more like outdated motel. To make it worse the unit not sealed properly gaps can see outside. Cold at night, moved bed from wall to middle of room. Bought some air freshners,. Cheap ceiling tiles in bathroom. No heat, no exhaust fan in bathroom. Terrible, not sure how. People have reviewed so its a 3 star, its not worth any deal. Feels like hostel room. I can't believe some of the Google reviews, either fake or this hotel has some good rooms and very bad ones. All I can

The building is over 100 years old, which is something you wouldn't be able to tell from your room because they are spacious and well kept. Matt who was the receptionist/concierge during our arrival was one of the best hospitality industry members I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Finally, the prices are exceptional for what you get. Very pleased with my stay

Hit and miss. We think this hotel has great bones and alot of potential. It is a historic building with great features but somehow it just does not stand out. Front doors were locked when we arrived at 3 pm. Security guard on site and visible. Signs about no visitors and cluttered main desk area had us concerned. Elevator was not functioning so we took one by pool -- and what a tummy churning ride that was! Halls are spacious, heavy old doors are great to keep out noise. Room was small but had a good view (if you look past train tracks). Room seemed dated but by morning it had grown on us. Bed

Really cool old place located right next to many downtown restaurants. The rooms were nice size for the age of the hotel. The elevators ARE a bit of a trip as other reviews suggest, but to be expected for the age of the building. My only gripe is that the room, especially high corners in the bathroom and curtains/window areas could use a cleaning. I would definitely stay again though.
