Co-operative Hail Insurance Company Ltd. was established in Saskatchewan under the Co-operatives Act in 1947. The company was organized by farmers with the purpose of providing hail insurance protection to producers at cost. In 1951 the company expanded coverage to Manitoba, and has operated in both provinces since that time.
Co-op Hail is owned by it's more than 40,000 members. Producers who purchase a crop hail insurance policy from us become members of the company. There is a one-time fee of $1.00 for the purchases of a share. In addition equity is built up in the members name through the payment of dividends to a maximum of $500.
