We welcome you to have a look at some of the photos from our past. Laurin Ottawa monuments was initially located on George street before our move in the 1950's to our current location on York. In the early days monuments were produced from local stones. Limestone monuments were the most common. The stone was soft and easily carved.

The monument is perfect and I think she would be proud of it.
Today's funeral directors/homes are facing increasingly high loss of revenue due to the high rate of the cremation services that many families now desire. To combat this huge loss of revenue, the funeral director might try to sell monuments out of a catalog or a limited display. The large majority of funeral homes that sell monuments outsource the production and design to actual monument companies.
The short answer is No. All granite is made up of similar elements and each one of the selections here will endure for generations. The type of granite that looks beautiful as a countertop would likely not be appropriate for the cemetery.

He helped us determine the best monument for my parents’ grave and did so very effectively and efficiently. He willingly provided us with multiple samples as we changed our minds or thought of new ideas. He then dealt with the cemetery in Metcalfe on our behalf ensuring everything was handled seamlessly. This was the best of a worst expereince our family ever had. As hard as it is to pick a stone, engraving and anything else associated with death, Patrick at Laurin Monuments was kind, caring and so generous with his time. He made sure the family understood what we could expect.
The work was done beautifully just as we wanted and Patrick also told us all the pros and cons of what we were asking for.

Excellent stonework and customer service. Patrick was very helpful. He was able to incorporate all of our ideas & wishes for our Mother's headstone, and suggest some very good enhancements/design ideas. They met timelines for construction, and were very proactive in managing the delays for installation due to Covid restrictions. We were always kept up to date, with photos of the proof and the finished monument. Pricing was very reasonable and the quality was outstanding. Very responsive to any inquiries along the way. Professional work all around. The stone looked even better than we expected.

I just want to thank Patrick for his professional and expert advice while choosing a monument to honour my husband. He by far exceeded my expectations by creating a digital mock up of what I told him verbally. It is so nice to be heard regarding something as delicate as this. I did approach two other companies, who just told me that they would do everything and didn’t require my input. This is not how some people today want to be approached.

I contacted Patrick after the death of my mother-in-law. Patrick responded immediately and was extremely accommodating in my request to have the inscription on the monument done before the interment. The work was very well done and I would not hesitate to recommend him. The communication was done via texts, emails and phone calls. He made sure all was in order and to our satisfaction before doing the job. Once done a certificat was sent to us including the stone description, recommended maintenance and value of the monument. In the package it included a picture of the work done on the monument
