Established in 1980, the Chung Won Institute of Taekwondo is still family owned, and operated. We believe martial arts are a way of life that enables each of our students to achieve their full potential, both mentally and physically. Without mental strength and clarity, physical strength is meaningless - this is the philosophy we strongly believe in.
We offer classes in Taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo (the art of the sword) and Sorim Tai Chi. Chung Won also offers Snoopy Day Care, an afterschool program for children between the ages of 5 and 12. Grand Master Chung has been studying martial arts for the last 55 years, and is credited for bringing Taekwondo to Eastern Canada in 1977.

Services
Grand Master Chung's specially designed Taekwondo, Sorim Tai Chi and Haidong Gumdo programs will help you in both business and in daily life. After just a few weeks of training, you should notice improvement in your energy levels, flexibility and overall health. We will pick up your child from school and bring them to the Institute for their specially designed Taekwondo class.
Haidong gumdo is not confrontational. Unlike many other martial art styles, there is no combative sparring - although some combinations are practiced with partners. Gumdo is both an active, and cerebral martial art and appeals to those wanting something more active than Tai Chi, and less demanding than Taekwondo.
Sorim Tai Chi is a way of conditioning your mind and body to work together in order to achieve your full potential. You will become more aware of yourself and your environment. You will be taught to breathe gentler and slower, and to stay calm and focused. Sorim Tai Chi is a must for anyone who wants to improve his or her physical and mental health without the risk of injury.
Grand Master Chung's specially designed martial arts after school and summer programs will help your child to maintain self-control and discipline, apply more effort in school and improve grades, be sincere and respectful to others, build confidence, raise self-esteem, overcome fears and learn how to deal with obstacles.
To start in September: We are looking to hire a qualified Day Care Van Driver to not only safely transport our Snoopy kids from their schools to Garderie Snoopy Daycare; but also to establish and sustain a positive experience for children and be an ambassador of our vision and our mission. To treat all children as individuals, while respecting their abilities and to help the children reach their full potential while having fun.

Back in the Spring I saw a demo for Haidong Gumdo and was immediately moved by the beauty of movement and grace displayed by the practitioners all the while wielding a sword, albeit made of wood or metal. I tracked down some of the practitioners and Master Keun, to ask some questions. I knew then I was going to do this, the only question was "… when?". Well, last night I tested for my yellow belt after two months of lessons. Surrounded by such happy, motivated and helpful people has made this journey a true joy. As for Master Keun, not enough wonderful things can be said of his knowledge
