We believe that quality of life can be recognized in oral health and access to oral health. For more information, please visit www.cap-acp.ca. Exposure to inflammation early in life increases one's risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.

Dental researchers have found the first long-term evidence that periodontal (gum) disease may increase the risk of cognitive dysfunction associated with Alzheimer's disease in healthy individuals as well as in those who already are cognitively impaired.Oral bacteria entering the blood stream and inflammation caused by plaque build up are just a couple of the ways periodontal disease can increase your risk of a fatal heart attack.

Regular dental cleanings, including an examination of the entire mouth are essential in the early detection of pre-cancerous and cancerous conditions. One of our hygienists will carefully examine the inside of your mouth, tongue, palette, uvula and neck. Risk factors are tobacco use in any form. Alcohol use combined with tobacco use greatly increases this risk.
In an effort to inform the public, dental hygienists have answered some frequently asked questions about both the profession and proper oral care. The fact is, the easier the access to proper oral hygiene, to better the health of all Canadians. You the public, now have greater access to dental hygiene services.
For optimal health of your gums, we will clean your teeth by removing all calculus, stains, debris and plaque from your teeth. Professional scaling and root planning have been shown to reduce bacteria implicated in oral disease. We offer these procedures which deliver motivating results. Professional cleanings are much more than cosmetic; they help prevent gingivitis and periodontal disease.
For clients with a history of excessive decay or sensitivity, our fluoride treatments help strengthen tooth enamel and support the re-mineralization process, preventing or minimizing sensitivity. Tooth decay results from the effects of acids on the minerals in your tooth enamel. These acids are produced by bacteria in the mouth and literally dissolve the minerals right out of your teeth.
