In Alberta, primary care services are provided by family doctors, primary care networks (PCNs), and Alberta Health Services (AHS). Primary care includes the initial care, treatment and follow-up of various conditions, as well as referrals to the rest of the health system when needed. Primary care also encompasses the promotion of wellness, and the prevention and management of chronic diseases and injuries.
Our Primary Care Network (PCN) has a variety of health professionals to ensure we have all your family's general healthcare needs covered. Primary care is the foundation to building healthier Alberta communities and a strong, sustainable healthcare system. It gives you and your family a home in the healthcare system, supported by a team who know and understand your unique needs.

Services
Improving the health and wellness of all Albertans requires strengthening access, quality, and sustainability of our primary care services. PCNs were developed by Alberta Health Services and Alberta's primary care doctors to support the vision of creating a fully integrated healthcare system. In our system, family doctors are the driving force of a multidisciplinary team.
Clinical, administrative, and clinic support jobs at our PCN in Sherwood Park, Strathcona County, Fort Saskatchewan, Redwater, Lamont, Gibbons, Bon Accord, some parts of Edmonton, and surrounding areas. The Sherwood Park - Strathcona County Primary Care Network is a group of healthcare professionals and administrative staff who work with you and your family doctor to help you live well.
We offer a variety of programs and classes to help Albertans learn and maintain healthy living skills and habits. For patients who participate in our ZOOM video programs and/or classes, here is a ZOOM Video Guide for Patients that provides information and directions about how to access and use ZOOM effectively.
The SPPCN Mental Health (MH) Program offers a variety of free services that require a referral from a doctor, typically your family doctor. If you do not have a family doctor, you can find one or alternatively try to get a referral from a doctor at a walk-in clinic if necessary. Our mental health clinicians can provide services to children (pre-school & up), adolescents, adults, and seniors.
The eight Primary Care Networks in the Edmonton Zone are working together to offer a variety of virtual group patient education classes to people who live in the Edmonton Zone. Below is a list of the patient education group classes offered by the other seven PCNs in the Edmonton Zone. Attendance at these classes do not require a referral and are open to anyone in the Edmonton area.
