Hillis Insurance Agencies Ltd. was established in late 1963 by Wilfred H. Hillis, and has been family owned and operated ever since. Wilfred Hillis and Fred Dixon were partners in Liberty Insurance and once they grew the business enough took their clients and flipped a coin.
The winner kept the name, the other kept the location; we lost the toss and Wilf Hillis Insurance Agencies Ltd. was born, later shortening down to Hillis Insurance Agencies Ltd.Kraig Hillis has been with Hillis Insurance Agencies Ltd. since 1990, and is the third generation to run the brokerage. Terry Gowryluk retired from the brokerage at the end of 2015 after 37 years.
